HAPPY NEW YEAR to my kombi brothers.

Couple things I learned today. Rainbow speakers are no longer available at the place I bought mine last year. Seems they're out of business.

If you're looking for Rainbows, they are now available here (price has gone up a bit):

Thanks to mbenzman who replaced my failing air pump and v-belt recently. Also had the 120K service and new front brakes installed.

Neil, I think they went through some ownership changes in the last 6-12 months. I've never bought from them so I can't vouch, but the U.S. distributor I contacted for Rainbow is apparently gone. Their website was www.distinctusa.com

IQ may be the only game in town for Rainbow speakers on this side of the pond.

W124 WAGON lowering springs 300E E320
In case anyone on this forum is interested, take a peek in the classifieds (suspension) for my lowering springs. My loving wife has said in no uncertain terms that she doesn't "need" these on her wagon (and after viewing her driveway and speedbump habits, I agree).

Thanks, Hanno

We've had a lot of heavy rain here in the past week (car sits outside at the office). The footwell in the cargo area is damp....

CRUD. No time to solve this mystery....gonna have to get this dried out, them look at the issue in the coming weeks.

Did you get this worked out? I was thinking that if you parked facing downhill, maybe your getting water through the bottom of hatch seal, then finds it's way to the footwell. Parked facing uphill it would run off over bumper. Just a thought.

Haven't had time...we had a baby join the family on 12/28 and have been packing to move ever since. Our big move was last Saturday, so no time to address this issue.

I just tried to dry out the footwell as best I could.

had a similar leak in my 94 kombi. open the right side compartment after it rains and feel up under the window. if the foam up in there is wet, you need a new quarter glass seal. in my research on the various boards, i found that most of the kombis suffer from this failure after about ten years. i tried having the glass sealed first and it was useless. second place to check is the antenna; again, same compartment and its location is obvious. both the antenna and the window seal conspire to kill the subwoofer amp in the well below the window. oddly enough, the window leak causes the very common stain on the right rear carpet and water in the storage well. the last culprit may be the hatch seal itself. it compresses over time and will allow water infiltration. the check for this is to put a piece of paper in the opening and close the hatch. if you can easily pull out the paper from the outside of the car, you need a new seal. of course, if the shut line is not good, you also need to adjust the hatch latch...hth

Time for some new tires....200 treadwear just doesn't last long. Thinking about going with some Pirelli PZeroNero a/s. 400 treadwear and still decent grip. My buddy has them on his E92 BMW.
