Turbo Hood Mod ????
All metal so they can be flush set in the hood.
Reminiscent of the Mosselman Silver Arrow heat extractors...
Just laid one on the hood for a rough idea of how they will look...
Will help with heat extraction for the turbos...
GO OR NO GO ??????

My vote is no-go, man. I'd be all over it if you were driving a muscle car. Your car is definitely fast for a w124, but I still consider it a luxury car first and foremost.
Also, how would you keep the moisture out? If you're thinking of installing it in that area, it seems dangerously close to a lot of electronics that sit near the battery.
Sorry to poo on your idea.

The good thing about this vent is that it is of the same era and design theme of the w124. It is more square and the rib theme plays out in the grille, the seats, and the tail lights. So what I am saying is that it isn't out of place. It would look better too if you go for the v12 or avantgarde grille.
It's a functional mod,
Do it.

I take it you won't take the car out in the rain once you do the mod? Water in W124 engine bays = the suck.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Problem with the modified headlight wiper trim is that they would provide little or no cooling, let alone heat extraction.
The turbo/passenger side has the cast aluminum air filter box against the headlight with the cold air intake coming in from the bumper.
Any opening would just be blocked by the air box.
I'm trying more to extract heat then bring in cool air.
Plenty of cold air being fed to the turbos.
No problem with engine temp, stays under 90, but a lot of heat coming off the turbos.
Lower temps = more power.
You'll see a similar heat extractor on the 1992 300CE and 300SL Silver Arrows.
You mean like this ????

I have a lot of parts at the paint shop.
The pic with the louver shows a brand new stock grille and surround.
The old surround will be painted signal red ala early AMG body color match.
The old stock insert will be shell gray to match the cladding.
I'm having new bumper inserts painted to match the cladding along with a Wald EX replica front spoiler.
I'll paint another stock insert black and have a set of the stock chrome trim bars in signal red and one set in chrome.
Intend to do much mixing and matching until I get the correct look....
Also have OEM style Euro headlights with lower blanking plates or with wipers.
And yes...still have the S600 / Avantgarde grille
Try looking into 300D fenders, might help out.
I believe they are designed for the air intake.
If I do anything it has to be a heat extractor to release the hot air trapped under the hood.
Mosselman Silver Arrows used one louvered extractor on top of the turbos and the other on top if the intake area where they mounted an intewrcooler on top of the throttle body.
I'm getting plenty of cold air from the intake below the bumper and the intercooler is on the chassis rail parallel to the engine.
Shops around here look at money making collison work first, then something like this or even a complete pant job as "fill in" work.
Probably pick up another hood and let the shop work at their convenience.
Trying to maintain a "period" look....this is as close as I can get to the Mosselman cars.
The twin turbos develop a great deal of heat that gets trapped under the hood.....heat is always the major cause of component failure.
Wouldn't even consider if it wasn't a performance enhancement

I don't think rain would be that big of an issue, and if it did become a problem with steam being created at a stop light or something, you could have a simple panel affixed just below the vents to channel the water while still letting the heat escape.

Get er dun

I kid, I kid

The diesel wing (fender) is not much use unless you re-site the washer bottle to allow airflow.
What I like most about the twin turbo conversion is its subtlety. I'd keep it stock.
