Haha, I suppose so Whats the paint job going to be? Keeping the VIN color? Or going a little risque? Paint style ala Viper? o_O Put your old racing numbers on the side? Or a nice air-brush mural Hmm, or maybe a nice, piano black glossy finish?

Very Slow Mercedes
On a stock car it would be silly,,but 300Hp+ of forced induction and teh associated heat is worth having the car look a bit out of touch....

That and air vents
Btw: If you decide to put those air vents on, your engine will feel a cooling difference only highway driving which in that case I have to say is a good idea, but if you are putting them on for show, then I have no comment.

In my case it's a new twin turbo install that produces as much incremental heat as it does power over the stock engine.
In essence my install has conservatively increased power output by a minimum of 50% on a Mustang Dyno and has resulted in recorded 0-60 times in the low to mid five second range.
The vent application is heat extraction and functions regardless of the vehicle speed, of course more efficient at high speed, but venting heat even when stopped.
P.S.
I bought this car new in may of 1988 and never had an "urge" to vent the hood in it's stock condition. !!!

TURBO....
TURBO....
TURBO.....
and my car looks so bad already hood vents will take away from the people noticing what a POS it is as they will be laughing at the Honda Civic hood vents.....notice the huge 3 inch oval tip that looks so out of place that I can't even stop laughing at it...you are right hood vents will only cool it down at highway speed, and since California has so much traffic,I will mostly be easing along the 405 at 20 mph, there is no way the turbo will generate enough heat,,and plus the extra layer of clear coat I sprayed on the hood should protect against 400 degree heat at least for 10 years, and in 10 years I will surely get tired of looking at this ugly car and sold it off to some sucker and just get a Honda Civic with a 6 inch rear muffler and mustang cowl induction hood fiberglassed on with a 140hp hybrid motor, thats if I could even sell it as they will never be anyone as dumb as I am and actually want a 95 Eclass cabriolet 400+ hp turbo with hood vents, there could only be 1 idiot for such a car and that is me....darn you are right...
95 E class Turbo Cabriolet (not dynoed yet but realistic 280-320HP)C32 Brakes,SL 55 AMG wheels,AMG pedals,Burlwood shiftknob,600 grill,Alpine/Kenwood 300 watt surround sound,Factory keyless alarm/entry, and many more pointless mods over the year---selling this POS cheap,cheap...or trade for VTEC Honda Civic,
So glad to let this POS go now, man are you right this whole darn car just looks like crap, why did I ever waste my time and all that money,I wanted one of these cabriolets since High School back in 93, waited until 2000 to get this one and until 2007 to add turbo when I could have just saved my money and time and get that Civic....thanks

I have to say I prefer the z34 louvers, they are a better scale with the other design elements of the car, especially with an avantgarde grille. Look at the 1970's SLC's that had the louvers in the rear quarter windows... very similar.
Whatever you go with, I would say go flush mounted.

Conscript me as a deck mate for your "ship of fools".....and an old one at that !!!!
Oh the pleasure of a twenty year old car smoking late model V8's....
They can't imagine how much "push you back in your seat" horsepower and torque this crude I6 is capable of developing.....

Temporarily I'll go with the 280Z's which I'll color match and install myself.
This is an easy install, just template and cut the sheet metal.
They will surface mount 1/4" - 3/8" above the hood surface.
I'm going over to 500Ecstacy where they have had a similar thread going for many months....seems they also identified the engine bay heat problem !!!!

Ultimately I'll find a shop to do a flush mount on the Z34 as they would be the most effective based on their overall area.

I put a sensor in the engine bay and was running over 400F at one point for pretty long periods of time. And that was with a rebuilt M119.

A more rediculous thing you could do is make the hood a huge heat sink. Like weld aluminum fins down the hood. Now that will disapate the heat the most. I would suggest installing a scoop underneath to allow for flow through the upper vents to be maximized( thats if your car isn't lowered to much) almost a lip spoiler but flow doesn't go through any other heat transfer units. Just a thought from an engineer!
