tires hitting fender

Hi,
I have a 1987 300E i just got a hell of a deal on 4 18 amg rims with toyo ZR model tires.
I put all of them on but whenever i go down a step hill i guess you could say a dip the front left tire scraps against i believe the back of the fender. The very outside top part of the tire is starting to peel away piece by piece. The back tires have never hit once but the right front tire has hit maby 3-4 times barely not nearly as bad as the driverside. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on how to fix it because the rims look maby 10000000 billon times better than the stock so i really don't want to take them of. here are some picks.

P.S i dont have the tire size cause its in the shop puttin new tranny in it.

you might have to get rid of them it looked to me like there sticking out to much in back and in front from the photos or you might have to do alot of work to get them to fit right

You have two options:
1. have the fenders rolled - this is how all the tuners fit 18's on a honda
2. stretch narrower tires on there - 225 MAX in the front and then it still might rub. - 225/40/18 is what you want in the front - you may be able to get away with 245 45 18 in the rear.

If the rims are 8.5 rims its gona be tight - be sure you have the right offset (30-35) or ya may hit suspension bits as well.

You can buy fender and strut spacers from Mercedes to alleviate the issue.

can someone explain what "rolling" the fenders means? can this be done without body work or repainting? need to do same on my Mondial fitted with 18" that look great but hit the outside rim lip in the rear.

Ok, rolling the fenders is usually pretty painless if you have the right tools for the job. Basicly you can either use a hammer and bend the inner lip of the fender out a bit or you can get a tool that bolts to your hub and has something akin to a urathane bushing that you use to apply pressure to the back of the fender in order to drive it out more or flatten it just a bit. Its pretty standard procedure for most tuners and it shouldnt be that expensive or hard to find a place to do it for you. You shouldnt have to paint if its dont well - though thier could be cracking if you try to go too far.

What your trying to do is simply increase the ammount fo clearance enough so that the tire will clear when you compress the suspension. Since your suspension (front) moves in an arc rather than up and down you can do it pretty easy.

based on my recent suspension hell, you probably just need to replace the front shocks. i tried 2 different types of lowering springs and my front shocks were too weak to support the weight of my car so i'm just on cut stock springs in the front.
