I got a new ride for my birthday, 2008 Ford Mustang V6. Sold the 300e to my mom for 500 bucks. I'm sad in the fact that I doubt the car is going to be babied as much Yet again I'm happy how I now have a fresh start on a new car with no worries. But oh well, she's close by (in the garage atm next to the Stallion). I had a good time on these forums and you guys helped alot with my problems, lol, thanks!

See ya' around!

good choice on keeping the benz in the family, you'll need something to drive when the mustang is in the shop... just joking, congratulations on your new ford!

Put the 500 aside and save it for your repairs in about 3 months.

LOL, you guys are talking like the w124 is the most reliable car on the planet. Maybe it is just me and my driving style, but maintenance costs me a pretty penny.

LOL, wow, that was awesome. It's that I'm pro like that lol, j.k.

I already used the $500 for the Stang's down. It's my mom's W124 now but she's thinking of getting rid of it, I'm suggesting she does too, Air pump is going to go soon on it, don't feel like shelling out another $600. The Idle is horrible cause the air flow sensor or whatever it's called is disconnected, and when you connect it if you put the car in Park or Neutral, the engine idles in the 5000's!!! Needs new tires, AGAIN, another $500, brakes aswell.

All in all I'm so happy with the Mustang, new fresh start, feels solid and built well! Plus it's fun actually being able to beat people now, mwuahaha. I beat some guy in a crappy red Dodge Neon which was loaded with mods, you could hear all the high pitched hissing and crap, TWICE in the same day. Hah, what a losr.

Gotta be careful though with the baby to break her in . What time frame do you guys suggest be a break in point for a new car? Mileage I mean.? I already 300 on it.

your car is almost 15 years old, and with any car that old, it requires maintenance to keep it running. i can almost guarantee you that it costs less to maintain your car than almost any other 15 year old luxury car. your car cost ~40,000 when it was new all those years ago, i hope you don't expect the parts to cost as much as a honda or toyota? i mean, do you think a 2007 e class will cost the same to fix as a 2007 corolla? so why would you expect it to be different for previous models? w124's are not 'unreliable', they're just all getting up there in age, so they require more maintenance, as with any car...
touch wood the only thing i've had to do to my car is regular oil changes etc., and it will need brakes soon, so for me, i have no complaints at all.

The new mustangs are beautiful IMO, the harken back to the day of whimsical auto design and bad-*** road going cars. That said, the w124 has an understated elegance and stance that just sets it apart. Also, aside from some random idle issues, my coupe has been good to me and my dad. Hopefully, it stays that way. Good luck with the new stang! Put a pic in here, I wanna see it.

A bit older actually, sold in '90. So that's like, umm, 16-17? Something like that, yea, anyways. I just thought, If I'm going to be spending, litterally the same amount of money of a new car payment on an old car, which doesn't satisfy me anymore, why do that? I dunno, I guess if I could afford to just baby it in the garage meanwhile everything gets fixed on it, I would keep it aswell, but I just turned 18, work full time and go to school full time. Right now I just need a reliable car to take me where I want atm, Although the 300e did take a beating, I took that car everywhere, lol. I just guess the time has come to move on At least I can tell my kids, "My first car was a Mercedes , AND AS YOUR FIRST CAR I'M GETTING YOU A 2005 NISSAN SENTRA MWUAHHAHAHA" lol

Awhh you had to go and ruin it. Now you have 126.

anyways. I suggest about 1000miles on the motor if possible. Everything else should be broken in by then.

omg, I wont even go into this and compare a benz to a ford.

The main point here is if you are happy with your Mustang then thats all that matters. And congrats on the purchase.

Update on the W124, These past two days it keeps blowing out all the coolant (literally) and running hot. Anybody want to guess what the problem is?

Why is everyone on here downing Ford so bad, or American cars?? :\ I know Ford SUCKED *** in early 00's but now they have seem to have finally gotten an idea, two months ago they surpassed Toyota in quality rankings. My friend's dad's GMC Sierra is just 2 years old with 143,000 miles on it, and when you start it up it still sounds like a new truck and runs like one too. What gives?

Thanks for the compliments too guys (The ones not being Rabid-Mercedes-Fanboys lol. Here's some pics.

Also back onto the MB topic. Found out what the problem was on the W124, one of the cooling lines busted. Replaced it easily ^^ and re-filled the cooling fluids. I'm going to try convince my mom to get a loan and fix most of the crap on the car. Dunno, let's see how that goes. Car has alot of memories, I would hate to see it go, -sigh-.

Nice Stang!!!!
Hey just wanted to give you congrats on the the new car. I bet it's AWESOME seeing like 185 miles instead of 185,000 miles. That'd be amazing. I'm selling mine to get a Land Rover. Like you said before why have a car that doesn't satisfy you, right? Well the 300 was nice and all but it just had waaaaay to many problems. It seemed like everyweek I had to take it in for something new, as soon as I fixed something, SOMETHING else decided it was time to break. I think it was in the shop 3 times in one month. I love Germany and German built quality but no... It was practically sleeping on pillows and I took it in for all the servicing, I understand it's an old car, and thats why I want to get rid of it. I'd rather get a Land Rover and tear up the ground and go swimming in it . In my w124 it's like "oh boy got passed by a chevy truck even though i'm flooring it" :/ I don't want to drag the Mercedes down it has been there for me a lot and it's had some good times in it, but it's time to actually have some fun and enjoy what i'm driving. w124 is an amazing car, but just not the right one for me. But i'll still be in the European club with a Land Rover right? haha goodluck to everyone on this forum. I hope your w124's last for decades more. And once again congrats on the Stang!

I apologize in advance on behalf of ford motor company for the car they talked you into buying...I had a mustang v6 as a rental car...My benz had more pick up. Do alot of motor work and make the 4.0 gas guzzler serve its true purpose.

also exausts sound awsome on that car, and the fastback kits look awsome as well.

Previous poster, yea, I have noticed it is quite a gassy. I was hoping I was gonna get massive MPG's. Saw the sticker again, 17City. Meh. I notice it does drink alot when I play with it, hehe. Just took a ride around the complex with it, I'm in love, .

Onto the W124, do you guys know any fix or cause or shaking when in idle? Car has gotten bad, in Park or Neutral you can really feel it. I was thinking maybe the engine mounts? Like I said, I really hope my mom keeps the car, -sigh-.
