Arrow Exhaust ideas..

As I have a few exhaust leaks and a problem passing emissions due to a high NOx reading, I am looking toward new exhaust parts.

A full tune-up was done (oil, oil filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, air intake, etc). The reading did not go down by much and when I tried with 93 Octane...the reading went up .

I do know that the current O2 sensor is damaged upon previous owner's install. I will replace it shortly, however I am blaming the exhaust as well.

I am looking to replace the stock cat and rear muffler, deleting the middle muffler (post -cat and before the end muffler/tail pipe). I have acquired interest in Magnaflow and Borla but am put off by the higher price of Borla components.

Any idea?

I already have a replacement O2 sensor to put in. My cat has holes in it . I richened the fuel mixture. My reading is 1800/1900 range. The legal limit is 1146.

Before you do anything else do what I did. Buy a universal fit magnaflow cattalytic converter and a flowmaster 50series muffler. 2.5" pipe from the manifolds back. The sound is amazing, the power is improved over stock, and the sound is AMAZING! It was about $200 to have a shop put it on, and about $220 for the parts but I was very impressed with the result, low and aggressive. As for your O2 sensor... I have no idea - around here there are no emissions checks so every time the check engine light comes on I get the code (always the O2 sensor) and just turn it off until it comes back in a couple weeks. But a new exhaust is a good start, and with a new O2 sensor I would expect the problem to solve itself.

You're lucky that you don't have to strict *** NJ emissions laws to deal with. I just hope I will pass the test if I buy hi-flo exhaust parts like magnaflow hi-flo cat and muffler.

^ I heard they can fail us just for not having OE exhaust parts, whether or not it still comes in under regulatory levels

I should keep that in mind. I did put chrome exhaust tips on and I think that they take away from the OE tail pipe look enough that the inspector should have reason to believe that I don't have OE muffler anymore, although I do. Does this go for any vehicle going through a NJ state inspection? I personally go to the Dayton center and rarely Edison.

I'm not certain, my dad has heard from his customers stories about their kids' cars failing due to not having OE parts. It could just be scare stories, but there may be something behind it :|
