adding power antenna switch

My 91 300e does not have a switch for the power antenna. I much prefer to be able to control it instead of having it go up and down every time I start or shut off the car. I bought a panel with extra slot for the switch and wonder if anyone has wired one of these before?. Earlier and later years both had the switch but for some reason in 91 they decide not to use it...

Thanks

i was going to do this as well, but i never listen to the radio so i just disconnected my antenna altogether. it should be very simple, just an in-line switch on the 'on' wire, i would think

lots of cars
The radio has a power antenna lead so you can route that wire to a switch on the dash to turn it on or off. A switch like the ones on the early versions should work to control the height of it too? I would look at all the wires from the power antennna and see whicih one controls the motor. Follow the wires all the way to the console and add a switch there too.

Here is a pic of the earlier style plug that has the additional wires to control the height of the antenna with the dash switch -

The red/yellow wire should read 12v constant

The brown wire is ground

The solid blue wire should see 12v when the radio is turned on (remote)

The 2 additional wires are the blue/yellow and blue/green. These are the 2 wires that go to the dash switch. They alternate between 12v and ground depending on the switch position to determine antenna height.
