Impromtu meet at Starbucks...
Shawn and I met up impromptu this evening so that I could have him sample the '08 E320 Bluetec Turbo diesel. I think he went away quite impressed!
Managed to take some quick shots here, and I promised to get a couple up right away. So here we go...more to come![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Shawn, here's the number of the MB/BMW/VW/Porsche/Audi workshop that we drove to. Otto is the owner and Norm (the tech) is my buddy there.

2010 VW Golf TDI
I wish I could get past the hostility I feel for my MB dealer and the professional reviews about problems with newer MBs to seriously consider a new or newer E-Class diesel. I do think they are beautiful cars and the diesel really is nice. To me they do seem more "special" than BMWs and other comparable vehicles.

I'm not touching a newer MB...
My dad picked up a 2 year old CL600 with 12k miles a few months ago. Definitely the fastest car I've ever driven or ridden in. But the POS has had nonstop problems. Leaking hydraulic something or other, wouldn't shift out of park so the shift mechanism had to be replaced, etc etc. I really can't remember all of the repairs, but the car has been in and out of the shop probably 4 times (half of the time my dad has owned it).
And it's basically a new car. Makes you wonder what will happen to it 5 years from now. By then, it will be worth more melted down to its basic materials than it would be put together as a car.

Very nicely done interior lighting and cabin. Bluetec motor is quiet , but has tons of torque!
Fun photoshoot Andrew, can't wait to see the other shots.
Thanks for the opportunity.

Andrew: Thxs for the contact info.
My favourite shots are the one in front of SBucks (lucky you didn't get run over, lying on the road for that one) and the side shot of the rear quarters. Nice effect with the sepia/reduced saturation - or was that the result of trying to brighten the night shots enough for detail? lol

The original image actually has A LOT of detail and colours. The 40D is a great camera and the lens that I had on it is excellent in low light too. I was a bit annoyed by lens flare in some of the pictures though, perhaps as we had the headlamps on.
My favourite shot is actually the first one, but it's a pity we didn't try it with the headlamps off as that would've eliminated the blow-outs in the image from the side. Just parking lamps would've surficed for that shot. The 2nd picture after that is also great. That is actually a High Def image merged from 4 different pictures taken at different stops. That's why the headlamps are not quite as blown-out and the foreground is intensely sharp.
Glad that you liked the shots! That's pretty much it, so we'll have to do some new ones in the future.

Hi Shawn (yes, I got your name right this time!), that was what they call a Bleached effect, so yes somewhat similar to sepia. Sepia is a bit more washed out though. I did play with the blacks a bit too.

No of course not. Might be easier for you to just link them to my Flickr album here, though the images will be smaller. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
