However, your car needs to be block sanded and perfect for a sating black paint job.

Berti - Any possible hook up on those clips? Black lips look good if the center is a machine polished finish.
i will ask my benz buddy... they were asking me for over 350 dollars in clips and my buddy got them for like 80 bux all.. its the guy that i sold my front WALD too.. anyways i'll ask him.. give me your VIN and tell me what you need.

ohh and is it hard to do the center a machine polish>?

...and chris i think your car is fine the way it is... but flat black is kinda tempting lol i dono it could turn out nice but it could also be shhitty.. do a few photoshops before u do it...

lots of cars
Well, I mainly need the clips for those little panels on the back and the front. I can get all the clips for the middle panels. The clips for my car are the same for yours so if you can order another set like yours i can paypal you the money.

I haven't talked to you in a while Chris! Glad to hear you still have more plans. And to be honest, a good regular paint job would catch my eye more than a satin/flat black. In the end it's your choice of course. Now the choice is whether you want metallic flake in your paint or not.

Oh and I don't think you should black out the wheels either. You don't want to fit in with the poser crowd and if you do end up getting some nice rims, they will go unnoticed if it blends in with the background.

Careful or I'll get your good buddy Rio Z back on here and fill up the thread space with stories of weight reduction and head gaskets.

Found this a couple months ago while I was looking into satin paintjobs:

Anyone have any other pictures of this car?

That's not satin, that's just been photo-manipulated.

DONT SAY THAT!

It really is hard to tell, but I dont think it was manipulated to look satin. Then again, its a picture of a picture, so who knows.

That image above - even if photo manipulated - suggests these cars' boxy nature can work with the satin finish.

i'd say matte black wouldn't look too good unless your car's bodywork is absolutely flawless.. which is why you see it mostly on show cars. i would say satin would be sick though. just my 2 cents.

It may look good on that SLR but it doesnt mean it will look good on a W124, your car is beautiful, don't hurt it please. I beg you.

That wouldn't necessarilly be hurting it. I've seen many 124's in the garage that have black primer on them and they actually look really cool. I think flat black would look HORRIBLE! But satin would look pretty good in my opinion...i think it should still have a little bit of a glow to it, unlike flat paint.

Chris, unless you have a lot of excess cash laying around, this is way too much of a risk to take. Even the satin could turn out looking terrible, after you spend thousands getting it there. Then you have to spend a few thousand more to get it back to normal.

I know modding your car is fun and all, and it's fun to be different. But I could poop in my hands and smear it all over my face and walk around the office just to be different. lol My point is, just because it's different, it doesn't mean it's worth doing.

Listen to reason!!! your car is gorgeous as is, and in my opinion, you will have a hard time finding one just like it- it's unique enough already.

"Listen to reason"

Reason calling:
For $10K you can buy a Cabriolet or e500e and park it alongside your current ride. Dream freely but spend accordingly.
