Try www. craigslist .com

The SF Bay Area and Sacramento list tend to have quite a few sets for great prices.

I got a set of 17" Mono II's with as new Pilot Sport summer tires for $500!

Thanks for the advice

I appreciate your help in finding the AMG wheels. Seems thaat everyone is on the hunt for them though. I'll have to be quick on the trigger (Paypal).

I've seen some repros from Ads_t online but I don't want to do down that road yet. However, the advantage to getting their wheels is that they have them in 15", 16", and 17, and 18" sizes. My OEM wheels are 15". I want to upgrade to 16" if not even 17" wheels. I don't want to go larger than 17" because it will probably affect the ride quality. They also produce their wheels with several different offsets.

Does anyone have any experience with these repro AMG wheels ? Any idea where they are made?

Thanks all.

That was quick YNVDIZW124

I am actually looking for the silver ones thanks. I think they will be a better match for the dark grey under body cladding.
i am trying to keep this vehicle pretty stock. Wheels are tires are just the first
investment in the car. Next i'll need a new top (about $2500 or more). Then i have to get ready for the dreaded wiring harness and head gasket replacement.
Let me know if you have any leads....much appreciated

Cabriolad- you sound well prepared for the go forward...keep in mind about the wheels, they seem hard to find for awhile, but they go by quite a few times per year. Once you buy, they repeat, and repeat and repeat. They are not rare.

So unless you just gotta have it now, you will have multiple chances at your wheels in the next few months.

YNVDIZ being a great first score option, btw.

I thought these were out of production ?

I thought these went out of production ?

I guess i should not be in to much of a hurry. As much as i am enjoying the ride of the E, the wheels look a bit stodgy to me as is. Seeing so many w124's with personality just has me chomping at the bit i guess.

I had a 250 SL Pagoda i sold last year. It needed to much work and money for me to keep. I thought long and hard about buying another Pagoda but after reading so much about the 124's i thought i'd take the plunge. It sure is a bit more refined and modern than the SL. I really like the square (and rounded) body styling of the 124's. All the new cars seem to look so much alike to me, much to curvy and generic. Thats only my opinion though.

The car needs new tire asap, so if i'm going to get new rubber i want to settle on the wheels. The Cabrio now has 195/65/15 MXV4's. I need to look around for the rubber too. Anyone have good experience with Goodrich T/A's ? Probably looking for a responsive touring tire but somewhat sporty. I don't plan on driving the car very hard, but you never know.....

Thanks for the advice all. Though if anyone has any leads i'd appreciate knowing.

There are about six sets up right now on the SF Craigslist and it seems to be about 3 sets + a week for the last few months. Many have very nice tires on them also. Many in the SF/Bay Area are going ghetto and dumping their little AMG rims to get 20"s or bigger rims...

traction t/a's

Thanks for your input.
I heard these were great tires. I've seen alot of your posts, great looking car by the way. I thought about a coupe or sedan, but then decided on a cabrio. Usually we have pretty mild winters here in New Mexico. Its possible to drive year round with the top down (usually 30-50 and sunny in the winter). Being in the desert we also have a minimum amount of rainfall.

Driving back from Denver at 80mph (75mph limit) in a medium rain with the top down, i hardly felt a drop. Good thing i was on the highway and never had to stop though. The cab would probably have filled up like a bathtub.

I see you have 16" wheels. Would you have gone with a taller sidewall? Of course your car is alot racier than mine will ever be. The low profile probably gives you more control????
Thanks.

I went with the 50 series because I plan to lower it in the next month or so...and as for control...it's much better than my old 55 series

per your post

I just went to the San Fran and Sacramento Craigslists per your suggestion. Saw some great wheels (some AMG's), though none in the style i am looking for...yet. For some reason i cannot attach a pic here. I did upload one in the classifieds section under wheels.

I guess what i am after are a bit older. I'll keep my eyes sharpened and the checkbook ready. Thanks

RHW has these wheels on his silver cabrio and they look just perfect. They really seem to accentuate the sportiness of the cab. See his Triple play photos early in this thread. Thatsa whata ima looking fora.......

How low will she go ?

Wow, it already looks really low in the photo you posted. I can't imagine it will go any lower. Can't wait to see that.

Hey, thanks Cabriolad for that comment

But these wheels are the ones I mean - they go by often - I paid $400 shipped for this set. (No tires, I added Michelin Pilots) I've seen them sell for $400-$600 with good rubber since then. (And for over $1000 w good rubber too)

They look way better on the facelifted Cabriolet than they did on the old school Sportline. And they are meaty "enough" to hide the lack of painted calipers.

Yep. Those are the wheels

Those are the wheels i am looking for on your silver cabrio. Are they Craigslist finds, Ebay, forum list ?
Saw you were upgrading your sound system. Here is a link that might be of interest to you. You might already have it though.
Thanks again.

On craigslist go to autoparts and search for amg, don't add 17 or rims or ? a lot of rims won't pull up for some reason so just search for amg.

Here they are....for $375

I'll check them out

Hello Saprissa. Did you have link for me to check?

Spinlps, thanks for the link. I'll send the guy an email and see if he wants to ship them.
Would like to find a set with 7.5's all around as i am afraid of rubbing with the wider size in back. I'm going to contact him though.

Anyone else with leads, they would be very much appreciated as well.

Thanks again.....

nope, sorry.
Just attaching the picture that you had over on the Classifieds so that people can see what wheel you're talking about. You said you were having trouble linking the picture, so I took the liberty for you.

the picture is on the "www.mbworld.org/forums" server

if you are on the "forums.mbworld.org" server
you have to log on to the other one as well to see ALL the photos on MBWorld.
It's some quirky thing that site Admins haven't figured out how to fix yet.
They say it's just me, but obviously other people can't see the pics either.

THese wheels are still out there - genuine and brand new! I bought a set of 17's last year in Canada for my 190 16V. They were $395 ea. in CDN $$$.
However, they are always cheaper in the'States.

Good luck!
