W124 AMG rear Spoilers - authentic
There was also an AMG dealer called Performance Group International at 2310 Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park, Illinois in the late 80s.
A rear spoiler with AMG molded in was available, it was used on the Hammers and early W124 cars. Somewhere in storage I have one I think.
There was also a "wing" type spoiler that used a 3rd light off of some Mazda car of the period as I recall.
Only later, after M-B bought the name, did AMG go to a different style of logo.
There was also 8 different types of wheels in various sizes to be had. From 8.0 X 16 to 10.0 X 16 and various 17 inch ones. The wheel listed for the Hammer is a "8.0 X 17 Aero, Chrome, Signal Red Trim."

I decided to create this thread, so we can post everything and anything about W124 AMG spoilers.
I was digging around at my friend / mechanic's Mercedes-Benz junk yard, and came across a W124 with an authentic AMG rear wing spoiler. This one doesn't have the 3rd Brake Light, instead it has the old-school AMG logo on it.
I asked if I could pull it off the car, and he said sure, you can keep it too.
So I pulled it off, and got it for free. The bottom of it still has shiny paint, but the top has been sunburned pretty bad. It has the AMG embossed stuff and even says it's made for the W124. So I took it to PHIL THEARLE'S AUTOWERKS to get it prepped and painted original color. He's charging me $150 to restore to new. I'll post pics up once it's done next week.
I just thought it was a neat find, and wanted to know if anyone has more history / information about this W124 AMG spoiler.
I've searched the W124 forum using keywords "AMG" & "spoiler", but none of the threads have pictures anymore, because photobucket or image-shack accounts no longer work. That's what I hate about forum pages with dead-links, specially to pictures.

This is all one piece... like a big wing spoiler. It looks like the ones on the old W201/W202 DTM cars.
I wish I would of taken a photo of it, before I sent it off to be painted....
I should get it back on Wednesday hopefully.
in the meantime, can you guys post up pictures of W124 AMG spoilers here....

they did an awesome restoration (paintwork) job...
here are the pics on the "WWW.mbworld.org" server:

AMG center-piece logo:

and here's the AMG stamp on the underside of the wing:

This is going up on my garage wall as an art-deco piece.
Until someday, I get a real AMG W124 that needs a new wing !

You have to be logged in on both mbworld.org and WWW.mbworld.org
Its weird.
It's an IT thing that I don't understand. Maybe the ADMINS can fix this once and for all.
If you are logged on to https://mbworld.org/
then you can't see pictures that were posted on
https://mbworld.org
and vice versa.
So, just substitute the "forum" with "www" and hit refresh.
It may ask you to log on again. Go ahead and log on again.
Then go back, and replace "www" with "forum" again, and refresh.
Now you should see all MBWorld hosted photos, since your now technically logged on to both sites.
Don't ask me, but it works.Carlos

Removing it was PITA. The spoiler is high density foam. I cracked one of the end caps before realizing how fragile it is and that I had to cut all the glue to remove it. I used a thin sawblade and lots of wood tongue depressors to shim it up to cut the glue between it and the body. It's a good thing I didn't care about saving the trunk lid as it got scratched up...
