Unhappy 1994 E-320 Rear Headrests not working! Please help!!!

I have a 1994 E-320 and for some reason the rear headrest won't go down with the button on the dash like it used to. I can still go in the back seat and pull them up, but then i can't use the button on in the front to drop them down. Any ideas before I get robbed at the dealership? Thanks for any suggestions!

Get a screwdriver and remove the two screws holding the panel on the back of the seat. You probably have some broken parts in there..

OPPPS, my bad . Those are vacuum operated. Check the fuse first and if that doesn't work remove the bottom seat by pulling on the two tabs on the bottom of the seat. There should be a vacuum pump thing under the seat. You can also make them go down manually in the trunk.

btw, my name is Abe.

Does the car have the rear sunshade?...if so, the sunshade has to be completely down and recessed for the headrests to go down...you may have to push it into the slot. When they age they don't fully retract sometimes.

There's a vacuum switch back there also that's cheap that also is what it could be.
