Wow stunning.....I wouldnt be surprised to see somone from overseas ****** this one up and ship it out of the USA. That seems to be happening a lot lately with high horsepower collector cars such as this. It would be a shame to lose this one here in North America. My dream would be to be able to stretch this cars legs on the autobahn.

Major difference in mindset between true collectors and just those that own any Merc.
P.S.
I bid it up to $40K + the last time.
It's been for sale for over a year.
Is it worth $65K...probably in a good economy.

I agree completely. This car is an icon and worthy even as a museum piece although it would be a shame to let all that HP go to waste.Originally Posted by RBYCC

Wow man...but you got the E500. I think the E500 is better because it is more daily drivable. Everything on the Hammer is either completely custom/modified or euro, so you have to have an amazing mechnic/machinist/ and welder on hand.Originally Posted by Federic0W124

LOL, yeah, those will all be scrapped. Also, they wouldn't be here if it weren't for all the history that the AMG hammer made with the fastest sedan revolution.Originally Posted by RBYCC

We can debate the number, but rumor has it that there were 13 AMG hammer 300E 6.0 DOHC cars in existance. So I know of 1-2 besides the one on ebay that are still left, and I know of several others that are no longer in opperation. I know of a few 5.6 DOHC ones as well but most of those are overseas.
So maybe in 10 years, there might be only 1 or 2 of these things left... They were a huge icon in the late 80s, so we shall see.

I saw this car in person about 3 years ago when at the detail shop in Canoga Park, CA. It sounds really nice.

Well....let me go bid on it once again...

Been looking for a real Hammer and would settle for a lower maintenance 6.0L SOHC.

I think there is still an 87 300TE 6.0L SOHC in New Jersey still for sale in the mid $30K...

I briefly contemplated that wagon when I was shopping for mine last year. The practical side of me took over and I ended up with a "regular" W124 kombi. You looking at wagons?

Sooo I'm bidding on the Hammer...he dropped the "buy it now" $5K and lowered the reserve, but my max bid still not at the reserve.Originally Posted by Chappy

Considering a wagon if I could find a low mileage M103-12V as there may still be a twin turbo kit kicking around.
If I found a wagon, I'd get rid of my G55...

Still not at the seller's reserve.
I'm waiting to see if anyone bumps my bid and hits the reserve.
This is about the third go round for the car and the first time the reserve has been lowered as the buy it now.

that's an awesome car, I wonder why for that money they didn't get the Recaros or AMG steering wheel.

I hope you win, Ed. It would be really cool for the owner of that car to be an active MBworld member!!
