Oil pressure gauge question.

When you car is sitting with ignition on but not running does your oil pressure gauge show pressure. Mine sits at 3 if the car is running or not and I suspect the pressure sending unit to be faulty.

Does anyone know if it's the Oil Level Sender or the Oil Pressure switch?

mine likes to dance around but stays pegged at 3 when under
acceleration. I'll eventually get around to fixing it when I'm
not so lazy. Sometimes the wires get grounded near the
exhaust manifold resulting in the acting up.
I could be wrong.

On my 90, it goes up and down depending on engine speed etc.

On my 94, it is always pegged at 3.
