So this is not a Ford forum, but for the sake of accuracy, the Boss 429 is not a cammer (overhead cam engine). It is an overhead valve engine and based on the 385 series engines like your 460. The cammer engine from Ford was a 427 FE series based engine.

Sorry for completely derailing this post.

95 e320...sold the rest
If you want a race car, don't buy a w124. They're quick, but not competitively fast. When I had my first car (98 Mustang V6...LOL), everyone thought they could beat me. And the truth was, they did. The v6 was slow, weak, and most of all, not an engine for an American muscle car. So I decided to save up and get a new motor, which happened to be a 98 SVT engine.

A couple months down the road, the gets installed and running in the v6 body. I used to purposely find cars on long stretches of highway and try to get them to mess with me, and it's wasnt happening. As far as i can remember, nothing actually beat me, except a zr1 was pretty close. I used to leave any mercedes in the dust, except for super benz's obviously.

But to answer your first initial question, yes. A 300e should be able to beat a stock civic. Unless your benz has some serious problems
