Defroster question???

Is it normal for my defroster to only blow piping hot air no matter where you have the temp selector. Quite annoying in a when it is 80 outside and raining.

I believe so, yes.

Your windows should not be getting fogged up other than when its cold outside in the morning.

Defroster will only blow hot air, no matter what you have selected on the temp. selector...I've read it in the manual book few months back. I agree that it's quite annoying.

In chicago there are days when it is 85 and dew point off 100. basically the air is completely saturated with moisture. On days like that you get in your car and it foggs. Plus my condenser for the ac is leaking the freon into the cabin so that is not an option right now.

this is by far my biggest complaint with the w124. You have to turn the car into a sauna just to see out of your windshield sometimes.

I also don't like how unresponsive the temperature dial is. If I set it to like 68 degrees, it blows hot air. I only get hot and cold.

Not sure why that is so. On defrost, you get hot air to the windshield, don't you get temp controlled air through the other vents? I will have to double check, not much call for hot air in south Florida!

If foggy in the summer, I just turn on the AC compressor and any fog is gone is a matter of seconds. This assumes you don't have any leaks, like a heater core, which WILL fog up your interior!
Regards,
Jerry
