I need a head: 1989 300te

My cam is worn on my 1989 300te. I will need to replace it. Aside from a new one (which I will also then need rockers= Big bucks), can I get a used head and just clean that sucker up? Where is a reliable place that I can oder a used head and be assured that the cam will be viewed by the seller before it's shipped? There must be smart, reliable salvage/ used part houses?

What about going to the junkyard and pulling a head? All the M103 heads are the same and you should be able to get a good idea with the valve cover off. I bet the whole head as one wouldn't cost you much at all.

I've got a head for a 300TE. What kind of condition are you looking for? Mine is still on the engine, and it runs pretty clean

I just had the same problem, cam wore down on #4 & 5 intake lobes. Replaced the head this weekend with a used improved head from a '90 300e 2.6 at the junkyard for about $100. Runs pretty nice now.

Actually, there are two different head configurations on the M103 engine. One is the 103.94 and the other is the 103.98(I think-going by memory here).....slightly different combustion configurations. I wouldn't mix up the two, so compare with the one you have.

Other than a junkyard, let us know where you source your head...all data is helpful to us.
