odometer not rolling
My odometer and trip meter aren't working, so my 180k km car has a lot more then that. Speedo works but trip and odo don't, most of the time. Any ideas out there, and how hard is it to pull the cluster? Also need to replace bulbs in dash since its very dim. Any help would be great.
Yeah, my 300ce did that earlier this year. I had it sent here for repair:

The little plastic gear on the back strips off the shaft and just spins freely. You may be able to glue it in place for a while but it is likely to break again.
Pulling the cluster? I don't know, my dad did it. As for the bulbs, check that your rheostat or potentiometer is cranked all the way up (one of the knobs on the cluster) to the brightest.

I need to send my 260E's odometer off to be fixed. I'm getting sick of reading 270k from the donor one I put in
How much did he charge you if you don't mind me asking?
To OP: Pulling cluster is pretty easy. Make an L shaped device out of a coathanger (the hook side not too long, just like an 10mm so it can grab the back) one for each side. Slide it between then turn it so it grabs behind and just pull it out. You may need to unclip the speedo cable from the back of the footwell under the carpet as it can get tight.

Also check out Palo Alto Speedometer (www.paspeedo.com). They did mine and did a great job.
Instrument cluster is not that bad to remove. Tons of threads on this forum and the other MB forums about it. I think there might even be a special DIY thread on it.
If you need I could get some pics of where to pull on the cluster and the "tools" I made. As a note, the instrument cluster is a friction fit into the dash. There's 4 metal tabs that hold it in place - tough part is getting a grip on the cluster to pull it out, that's why there are the tools. Although if you had good enough fingers you could grab the edges of the cluster and simply pull hard - you might get lucky.
