I will be replacing mine soon and just might rebuild my old one to sell. Any interest in a fresh rebuilt? I'm a former MB tech so I have half a clue what I'm doing.

Haven't thought that far ahead yet. Just seeing if there was any interest. For sure it would be less than a new factory reman.

I have a low mileage 500E with a tranny that delays going into reverse. I imagine it will continue that way for sometime, however, if the price is right, I may take the opportunity to buy a rebuilt before it fails.

Please let me know if you go ahead with this.

The factory MB rebuilt units are crap, so steer clear of those. Look for a rebuilt that address's all the faults with the trans design.

Fully rebuilt with all issues addressed should run you no more than $1500 plus your core.

It is probably just the B3 disks that I am replacing right now in my 722.3. Cost me $60 and if the tranny is on the side you can do it super easy without any need for tools! Just crack the 12mm bolts for the pump @ front and use a magnet to fish out each disk one by one (4 total)

Thanks.

Wow, that would mean that the quotes I've heard for repairing reverse only, about $900, are mostly for re&re, right?
What do you mean "tranny on the side"?

Reverse is the weak link in the .3 transmission. I did several updates while I was in there and replaced all the external seals. Most of the clutches looked almost new and my brake bands were good as well.

I meant if you already have it out, put it on a clean table and give it a shot if you are up to the challenge.
I can send you the 722.3/4 rebuild manual that is not on my site if you are interested. It has pictures and all.
