4ooE strange noise and over-cooling issue
On top of that issue, the car is running normal at 60 degrees Celsius when it's 40-60 degrees Farenheit outside and I'm driving 85mph on the freeway for an hour and a half. Normal operating temp should be hovering around 80C and I only find it around 80C if I'm in traffic or on a warm day. Is it possible that the previous owner installed a thermostat that opens too soon? Could this have anything to do with the noise I hear when the car is cold? Here's a pic of where the temp is usually at.
As it is, I have a leaky p/s pump and I'm pretty sure I need the flex discs for the driveshaft

Ok, that doesn't make me feel safe about driving at all! I'll be minding my own business and all of a sudden my airbags go off and actually cause an accident!
The signs for bad flex discs are a vibration in the mid-section of the car, correct?

As for the car running too cool, I'm worried because if the engine's not at the optimum temp, it can affect things like gas mileage and even more important, the heat sucks in this car if the temp is at or below 60 degrees Celsius and I don't have heated seats

And as far as the PS pump, I'm not worried about it. I was given a free bottle of MB PS fluid and it barely leaks anyway.
