300E Trunk Lamp dim
The trunk lamp on my 1990 300E started to flicker and go dim when moving the trunk lid up or down, and then a friendly State Trooper gave me a warning that my license plate light was out. When I moved the wiring at the top of the hinge the light went out completely. The light will go to full brightness when the lamp holder is touched to the frame, so looks like a broken ground wire.
I have heard this is a common problem. Does anyone have experience with removing the wiring harness or accessing the wiring at the top of the hinge? The coiled cable disappears through the body panel behind the back seat. I have not removed the rear seat yet.
