Strange problem with AC compressor

I have experienced a strange problem with the compressor of my 260E Mercedes ( E-124026, Engine model: 1034, Chassis: WDB 124026-2B642261 Engine: 103.93 (10394022107477ɛ 92)

One time I was driving with the AC on and I noticed some smoke coming out of the hood. Luckily, there was a mech nearby and he told me to disengage the AC, and the smoke stopped and I could drive the car without AC. When the compressor unit was removed, the bearing that rotates the pulley (pulley number 3 on which the poly V belt runs) had jammed, and there were signs that it has been damaged by heat (burnt), and it could rotate with difficulty. It happended again when I bought another compressor, used, and this time it happended right after fitting the compressor, loading the gas, and the engine was left to idle. The engine temperature went to above 90 degrees before the fans started. Then there was smoke coming out, and when the compressor was removed, we witnessed the same: Bearing burnt. This time the engine was overheated, and the car could not start, even when the cooled off. Probably the poly V belt could move.

What could be the main cause of this? Engine temperature? System need flushing?

Another question, at what engine temperature should the auxilliary fans start, when the engine is idling and the AC is on?

You might have more than 1 problem. Your car overheated, check the coolant, the thermostat and head gasket. When you use the a/c is it cold? Maybe the freeon isn't lubricating the internal parts of the comperssor.

You are using the correct R12/R134a oil in addition to the refrigerant, right?
