Does anybody have working odo ~100k?

I got a quote for my odo repair yesterday....$225
I am using one with 270k on it right now so I can track mpg and how much I drive, but it's not ideal when the car only has 88k on it now...

Anybody have a WORKING odo ~100k or <90k ideally? I'd prefer to have one around the mileage that it should be...

PM me if you do....or you know of somewhere that repairs for non-expensive prices. I'd pay $100...but $225 is just ridiculous.

Awesome. I shot him an email. I asked if he could roll it forward 4000 miles to keep records accurate. Hopefully he can...but I understand there are possible legal implications for this although technically it is in good faith because I want my odo to be accurate with the engine mileage.

Glad to help out. It is still working to this day and actually the error seems to have been reduced (about 8mph off at 60) to about 3-5mph off around 80.

Turn around was quick, I believe under 2 weeks.

hello again. As an electrician I spend 15 years working like an electromecanic fixing house meters for a state company. One of the procedures of regular services is to disasemble single or doubled counter(odometar) completelly to a single pieces.Mechanisam is complitelly the same with any car odometer.I did it on my 124 when I got it,couse car was under watter over night and whole cluster was full of fine dust.I did it again on my wife 124 300E.I found it for $ 1000 with 200 000 miles on it.Could not resist. But knowing my wife she would be suspicious if she sees that mileage,I just roled it back 100 000 and she is happy as kid with loly pop.And I dont thik it is illegal, couse cars over 10 years are odometar exemt, even you have to put in papers when you selling a car.But that is yust procedures. If you need to roll it back Ill do it for free.It is not some kind of work and is easy for me,but if that is all you need. All you have to do is to open up the cluster and remove odometar and send it so you can use your car in between time.

Emailed the site over a week ago now and no response

Thanks 124_forlife. I may have to take you up on that if he doesn't email me back. I'm hoping he is just on vacation or something.

I have had the "working" odo I am using right now out, but the main shaft will not come out. I've tried hitting it through using a screwdriver as many people have done, but it simply won't budge at all!! If I could push the main shaft through, I could spin the the 2 and the 6 to 0 and 9 and be done with it! ....but it simply won't budge at all I don't get it

Yeh that is the procedure I was following actually. You see how he fits the screwdriver through the shaft? That's what I can't do. I've tried using a hammer to knock the main pin/shaft through so the screwdriver can take it's place and it literally will not move. I don't want to hit any harder because I feel like it is going to break the whole unit! I really was giving it a good hard hit!

I mean I could hit it harder...but if it breaks, there goes my only working odo and I'd really have to shell out the $225 to get mine fixed.

thats wierd.I am not making myself wise guy but maybe you took biger size screwdriver or not punching it in the shaft. If it happend that you punch a bit on the side, you are actually squizing the shaft.Try leaning the housing on something stable so you dont loose your punch strenght.Shaft is usually squized a bit at the end where you punch,so it could stay without sliding out.Hope it helps.

Nah I am using the right size because I got the main shaft out of my original one in an attempt to fix it. I removed it completely, but couldn't figure out why it had stopped counting the miles (hence why I need to get it fixed, or replaced with a working one with low miles)

ChrisDPham: I'm gonna wait and see how Ps2cho makes out first. But I will keep you in mind since the mileage is closest and you are close enough to drive to.
