Mystery Part

Ok ... calling all gurus. What is the mystery part with the plug on it on the end of this air intake tube? This is the tube that goes between the scoop next to the radiator and the air cleaner of a m103 motor.

I have two others of these tubes and they have a broken hole in the plastic where this one has something with an electrical plug. I don't know if I need this or not ... but I would like to know what it is.

Thanks

I think that's an air or temp sensor but only on ~90 or later. My '87 and '88s are blanked or plugged.

Correct. It's an air temp sensor.

alright, it is an air temp sensor. Sounds like its only for 90 and up so I dont need it.

For the bonus round what does it do for the 90+ cars?

I suspect that sensor is tied into the smog equipment that came in that year...
