Duplicolor Paint
Does onyone know if duplicolor makes a colormatch paint for MB code 702 (Smoke Silver) ?
I bought a can I saw thinking it was the right color (and its close) but I am not sure. It is not the same name on the can ... but that could mean nothing.
Thanks

I also have the Smokesilver (Rauchsilber) code 702 on my '89 300 SE.
I recently got a perfect match done by Martin Auto color.
Here are the full specs on the 2 oz jar I had made:
Brand code- 33925 Main layer 33925
OEM code- 702.9702. DB702.DB9702
Description- Rauchsilber Met.
Mixing scheme- SHOPLINE (JE)
Price Code- B
VOC Reg-4.3714 Lbs/Gal
VOC Act- 4.3714 Lbs/Gal
Variant- Prime
Revision Date- 12/09/2005
MSDS- JE1
Dont advise using Duplicolor, it will never ever match- go get a color mixed at a auto paint shop, will only cost you 10-15 bucks and is worth it!
Automotive Touchup-
There is a company that has the match- called www.automotivetouchup.com Item number AER-BC (basecoat color 702)
Hope this helps!

Color would be identical to the factory color as it's mixed per the factory spec.
Problem would be with the color your car is now...
Probably have fading and UV deterioration.
Only way you can get an exact match is to bring a small painted panel from your car to an auto paint dealer.
They will put your panel under the analyzer and mix to as close as what you have now.
Anything you use will have to be blended in to the surrounding areas...

I am ok with it not being an exact match due to fading and such, I am worried it won't be th same color. My car looks kinda "Champaign" in color, not the same as the color on the webpage. It looks very much like the desert mica of the later year cars. I am not sure if it has been resprayed already or if this is what it should look like.

ocpanther, understand that the color discrepancy is due to your monitor, whatever camera they used to take the pic of the color with, whatever post processing of the pic went through before being posted on the site, etc. The color you see will look different to me as well on my computer.
If the code matches, the color will match your car. Fading not included, of course...lol.
