i wonder how many miles it would take to blow every seal/gasket on an 18 year old car with only 589 miles?

1996 E320 Sportline Cabriolet x 2
The wheels will no doubt fall off as soon as you drive it, the windows will shatter as you go over 50 mph, and the leather will tear when you sit in the seats. The paint is too shiny and will crack. None of the electrics will work and you will definitely need the services of Fred Flintstone. This is an awful car and all readers need to be aware of the faults!!!!

Seriously? WDB and Dean...both bidding?? LOL
Will be real interesting to see the final price (bet it does not reach reserve)
Probably if sold it goes back in a vault, but I dream about running 2000 miles per year for the rest of my life on that car.
Oh, and the paint is all faded, and from the pictures, I can tell the trans is slipping. Good luck with that rat.

It's kind of sad that the owner bought it and barely enjoyed driving it. If the intent was an investment it will unlikely sell it for the original amount.
Oh and that 17 year old gas destroyed the engine, lol

There is a video on the ebay listing that is nine minutes long. The outside temperature gauge shows +103. The video is cool and shows how clean the car is. Now, if I only had $30k and was not facing ETA and A/C compressor problems on my 420...

I am interested..... I am curious as to what the real issues would be. Also, I may not be the correct owner because I would likely drive it.
OPTION 1:This car deserves to be treated as it has been for the last 17 years IMO.
OPTION 2: about 100 miles per month to include a 70+mph (US LIMIT) jaunt. The bushings, gaskets and seals should last indefinitely and in 10 years she'd still only have 12.5k miles on the dial.
OPTION 3: pamper it on "weekends only" and look at the Odometer 5 years later and wonder how you got to nearly 100k miles
- like I have done with my S55 (still dont know how that happened)

Here's what I have done. When I first bought the car I drove about 50 miles -if a car will go 50 miles it will go 500.
Then I changed all the fluids and filters using MB items, no after-market stuff.
Engine, trans, brake, diff, PS, SLS and coolant.
Then I drove it 500 miles - if a car will go 500 miles it will go 5000.
Since then I put on 12,000 mostly trouble free miles. I say mostly because a rubber vacuum connector cracked. This caused me to cut a 1" section of tubing with a sharp scissors and reinstall. The damn car was down for well over 2 minutes. Mind you it didn't stop or anything, I just popped the hood and noticed the white vacuum line unattached.
After changing the fluids I would suggest carrying about 5 meters of the white hard vacuum line and about 5 meters of the rubber hose both available at your local dealer.
After that the "Jaws of Life" will be needed to get you out of the car.
Kind Regards,
Ron

About 18 months ago I bought a 500E with 8500 miles and all the "experts," who of course did not own a 500E, said something about the seals, this and that will go wrong, etc., etc.
