190E shocks on W124
I only have like 2 inches of travel left on my front shocks. My car is so low that on almost every bump the car bottoms out on the front shock. I was doing some reading and found that the 190E shocks are the same, but they are shorter. Im thinking if i install some 190e Shocks in the front, i should have some more travel thanks to the shorter shock body. Anyone know if this is true or im i just

From the research I did, I came up with the same information.
They do fit, and have the same mounting points, but never could verify if they were indeed shorter.
A few parts catalogs said there were diff. part numbers from the W201 to W124, but I never proceeded to actually investigate.
But, I do need shorter struts as well. I have about 1" of travel.

I already went through all of this, but for different reasons per this link: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...uestion-2.html. I turns out that for the W124, the OEM cabriolet strut has a 22mm shorter body to accommodate the spacer rings required to fit the vibrations damper. The cabriolet, 400, and 500 series cars' struts also use a 14 mm bolt instead of the a 12 mm bolt for the upper knuckle. Yet, as far as I was able to determine, all of the aftermarket replacement suppliers (Bilstein, Koni, KYB, etc.) have gone to a one-size-fits-all for the W124 chassis. They all use the longer body and the 12 mm bolt so they "fit" on everything (although this leaves the cabriolet with 22 mm less suspension travel, but the numbers are so small they don't care). The only thing they change is the valving to match the desired ride characteristics. I believe this also applies to the Bilstein sport as well - the only difference from the HD version is that the length of the stroke is limited with an internal spacer to prevent possible spring escape on very lowered cars. Unless you want to use the genuine MB strut from the Cabriolet, you may be SOL for a W124 specific fitment.
