Help please! wont rev past 2000rpm no accelaration

hey guys,

i have a 88 300ce, and my car has started to give problems, thought is was the fuel pump, so have replaced that recently, but once warm my car doesn't seem to rev over 2000rpm, as soon as it gets there or when i put any sort of load on the throttle its seems to misfire pretty bad and wont accelerate!

have changed the plugs also as i thought that was causing the misfire. but no help.

i don't want to keep throwing parts and money at the problem.

any one have any input? could it be the MAF or anything like that?

thanks in advance

Rule out the MAF only because you don't have one

What was the condition of the plugs that you removed ?
Very important in order to read what cylinders may not be firing.

Have you also replaced the cap, rotor, wires and checked the coil ?

check the wires doesnt seem to be that, i have a feeling its got something to do with the fuel not the ignition, kinda sounds like it running out of petrol.

It changes all the time
Rotors, caps and even coils are starting to become a problem with the 103s. Also check manifold vacuum at idle and about 2000 UPMs. At 2000 vacuum should be higher than idle. If it's much less, you could have a restricted exhaust or plugged cat if you have a cat.

It could be the fuel distributor. Had the same kind of problem with my 300SL I changed the fuel pump, plugs, distributor cap and rotor but to no avail. When I brought it to a certified mechanic, that was when he told me of the problem with the fuel distributor. I found a good used one on Ebay and after I installed it, the car ran well again.

Appears that you have checked spark and a bit of the fuel supply.
Did you measure the amount of fuel that is being delivered to the fuel distributor?
Replaced the fuel filter?
Leaks around injectors?

Take the air cleaner housing off and inspect the air valve and throttle body assembly.
Make sure everything is moving freely as it should.
Put your hand around the rubber boot that connects the two and see if you feel a vacuum leak.
The boot tends to crack with age and can cause a major vacuum leak.
Also inspect all the vacuum lines and do a smoke test if you can.

Troubleshoot everything as it's much less expensive then changing your motor !!!
