You are right about the bumpers modified to fit the E500. likewise, the guys at 500Espot have decoded the vin of the car and it does check out to be an early E60 sold in Germany and imported to Japan.
The only thing I am checking is if the car had a previous accident because the dealer disclosed that it has been repainted already to its original color recently. Just to make sure.

I am close to finalizing the deal on the E60. Closing price is $33k including taxes and agent's commission. Duties and taxes in the Philippines plus shipping cost will set me back by another $15K so total will amount to $48K
