IT'S FINALLY MINE - SAY HI TO "FRITZ"
Hi Guys
I have been around for a couple months yabbering about how I was planning to buy a beautiful '88 CE-300. Well FINALLY it's mine and is sitting in the driveway !
And it's everything I hoped for. At first drive I thought feels heavy, fairly discrete in the acceleration department but today I went for a quick run down a rural road and let the foot sink to the floor for a short time and boy can that 6 get up and move when you ask it !
Anyway I have a few things I need to tidy up, head rests not going up and down though motor is working on both seats, couple window switches have broken support brackets but really insiginifacnt stuff really
But she's mine paid for and as you guys say "got the pink slip".
And Daddy ain't taking this 'T-Bird' away........

What a good looking car! I think it's interested the way the Zender kit fills the trunk lid like an updated model, but without the trim piece. Looks a little, odd. Not bad at all! Just different. I think the updated hood works well on coupes, also. As for the interior, all looks very well considering it's almost 24 years old. That MBTex holds up better than the leather for certain!
Do you plan to change or keep the wheels? They look a bit heavy, and not as aggressive as the rest of the kit. Again, not bad, just different!

This might be a ridiculous question but...what color is your car? Some pictures I see a very deep blue, but in some its black. Anyhow, it's mysteriously glossy!

I have a set of 10 spoke MB wheels (staggered 7.5 & 8.5) 17inch which are off being machined as one had severe gutter rash.
Piccy below of the wheel and photoshop of what it should look like

Hahahaahah not a silly question it's midnight blue - 904 according to the original delivery documents. Yes it looks very dark in some light and amazingly blue in bright light. Suits the shape to a T !!

Hahahahahahah !
No I paid a premium price because this baby had lived a sheltered life in the showroom with occassional outdoor excursions.
As the last owner was an MB after market supplier, 'FRITZ' was adorned with the latest wheels (once had 19" Mili Migelia wheels) , zender body kit and then facelift front etc etc. The owner has added only about 30,000 kms on to the speedo from the time he bought it back around 2004.
I paid about 8000 EURO but you must remember though that here in Australia this car sold for around 110,000 EURO (using todays exchange rates) when new so prices here are greatly elevated over Europe and the USA. Anyway I paid what I believe to be a fair price for an excellent example of a fine motorcar. Had I bought Ford or GM I would have had a later model car but probably with more km's on it and more headaches in my opinion. Cheers

It is an AWESOME color. At night it looks black, in sunlight it looks like deep navy blue.
Very nice, very clean car. I am so digging the steering wheel, too!

Hey Thanks everyone - I am extremely proud of the new addition.
I actually pulled up at the lights yesterday and a 300E circa 88/89 pulled up beside me and wow the difference between the two cars was chalk and cheese (apart from the obvious coupe v sedan). The facelift, colour, skirts, 17" rims etc transform 'FRITZ' from the everyday to something special. Even when I park it, I keep looking at it and can't help but think how good it looks to others in that era that I see on the roads. And the admiring glances from other drivers, and envious glares Hahahahah Little do they realise it cost me less than most of the modern Ford and GM (Holden) cars of the early 2000 era that a lot of them drive. But that 3 point star instantly makes others think - Where'd he get the money for that ? I look forward to many's a day browsing the forums and sharing experiences with you all with my first MB.
