95 E320 ASR ISSUES

Does anyone know about the ASR issues/problems with these vehicles? My E320 refuses to let up on these ASR issues. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot the problem?

These E320s are tricky vehicles. I just changed the wiring harness, throttle body, Resonance Valve-Intake, and the overload relay. The car still has acceleration problems intermittently with the ASR.

I'm at a loss right now. Help!

I recently had the brakes changed and they came with new sensors. Any other thoughts?

This will actually affect the cars acceleration? Will it also make the ASR light come on?

Where does the low voltage come from? I heard about limp mode.

Check the speed sensors on the hubs (these are the ones that do not connect to the brake pads) as recommended above. A dirty sensor or a damaged cable will cause the speed signal to drop out thus making the ASR controller think you are "slipping" which will cause it to cut power (and turn on the ASR light). If you have changed all that you have said, other than the sensors, you've ruled out the easy stuff. The ASR system interfaces to several others so diagnosis can be complex. I know I will sound like a broken record (yes, I'm from the vinyl era), but the only way to diagnose some of these complex issues is to read the blink codes from the controller. You can build a home brew one for under 10 bucks (search for it). The codes are attached to this post. Good luck.

Well, it appears the car is acting up again. It has driven fine for a month now but today I drove home from the grocery store today and when I finished shopping the car would not start. Everything powered up normally but the engine would not turn over. I got nothing when I turned the key. The dash lit up but no sound from the engine. Starter?? ASR?? I have no clue. I've spent over $2600 in service/parts/etc in the past 90 days alone.

reply to asr

After 6 months we found the problem with my ASR it was high voltage. The alt. was putting out 18 volts and the overvoltage relay was shutting off half the car.
