300E Towbar will it fit 300CE ?

Guys
I hate them but I need one.
Not easy to find one BUT have a chance to get 300E Towbar.
Seeing chassis is pretty much the same apart from length would a 300E Towbar fit onto a 300CE Coupe ?

Thanks

No idea, let me know. I'm looking for ways to up the 300ce's usability along the same lines.

Saijin
I have found one supplier who makes one for 300CE specific.

Its the Curt 11816 model and it's about $300 with free shipping in the USA.

EDIT:
Actually they are as low as $225 to $230 on Amazon from same supplier as below (Trendauto)

Would almost rather have a U-Haul weld job done, seems more secure.

This is promising though, thanks

Upon further research, it appears that if the bolts are of high enough grade, they can surpass a weld's strength.

I'm quite interested in this Do you think it'd be tucked fairly well, or sticking out a ton?

Curious to see if you have any height issues, how much clearance is lost with a hitch?

They cite it as being a hidden hitch, which typically should be tucked up right below the bumper. I'd venture a guess that the bottom of the hitch would likely be no lower than the bottom of the exhaust.

Yeah the few I have seen here (not 300CE mind you) but fitted to W124's have for the most part disappeared completely once they reached the back of the bumper. (ie no large metal bars hanging down.

I wonder about how it passes the exhaust area though I confess not taking much notice of the underneath really so amount of room etc is hard to picture ?

It looks a lot better than the Reese design I saw (no longer made), which had a long bar that stretched forward towards the spare wheel well where an additonal plate was bolted on. Here's a piccie of that one and I would definitely think the Curt is much stronger and safer in how it's fittted.

I believe this one mounts to the diff so it becomes part of the rear subframe.
The middle load support bar makes this design far stronger, IMO.

I think the E and CE have the same lower rear design, because, the muffler and bumper and rear suspension are the same, tho of course that's no guarantee.

Hey Saijin

Found another one out here but it's the same design as the second hand one I told you about. Asked a trailer specialist about it he actually thinks one mounted to the frame rather than bolt holes in the trunk floor would be stronger (ie Curt's model).
And that extension arm on the second hand one bolts onto the floor under the fuel tank !

Now I don't know about you but I ain't for drilling nothing nowhere near the damn fuel tank !

Bwaaaaaaakkkkkk Bwakkkkkkkk Bwaaaaaakkkkk (that's a chicken son !)
