Had a bit of time on Saturday to install the Atiwe Silberfeil steering wheel with the correct Atiwe adapter.





Started the install of the Recaro's using the stock power seat base and door control.
No need to ruin and butcher the stock base as one forum poster did...
Stock seat can easily be reinstalled !
All you need is 3" x 2" x 5/16" unequal leg aluminum angle that fits inside of the stock seat base. Trim to match the seat base side, secure using the stock mounting holes and fix the Recaro to the flat of the angle. This method is easy, looks OEM as it allows the side trim to still be installed over the stock base.

Gorgeous wheel, though lack of airbags freaks me out.

The bolsters on those Recaros are insane! Are they still firm 20 years on, or has the foam had it?

I picked up the seats on EBAY about two years ago and they were originally red and black vinyl.
Had them refurbished and recovered with MB solid leather on the bolsters and perforated leather in the center panels to match the original 1988 300CE seats.
Forgot where I got the pedals from but they are from an AMG

What the hell are the controls on the inside of the lower part of the seat in the original picture ?

Advanced Weaponry ? Communications ? Stargate Dial Out ?

I can see they are missing in the fitment - are you going to incorporate the functions whatever they are or cover over that area ?

I rebuilt the seat control panels with new switches.
The panel includes controls for the power seat back ( black with arrows ), seat heater ( black illuminated ),
side bolster air bladder pump ( three blue ) and air bladder bleed ( red ).
The panel will be installed and bypassed for the seat back operation which will be controlled by the stock door mounted switch.

The early AMG builds were extremely expensive and the Recaro seat option in 1988 was $10K

Ed what width are they - I am assuming we just can't wack any old Recaro in there !
I would be prepared to lose headrests up down etc and even go manual on the adjustments side for some nice hip huggers !
