IMO The "facelift" is sleeker, sportier and less "old and staid". IMO

It's not French, it's US Dept of Transportation mandated.

The French W124 has the same headlamp as the first coupe posted, albeit with a yellowed fog light reflector.

Yep, damn the DOT. When we finally got the Euro housings and lenses in the 94/95 facelifts, the DOT still mandated extra fluting and a more light dispersal than on the European glass.

That would be sort of what a pre-facelift French car may look like. I had my fogs chromed to match the look of the French cars.

For the US fog housings, there is a yellow/amber glass shroud that sits inside the white chrome reflector. This shroud gives the light a yellow tint to it. It does not matter what color bulb you use, you will get amber light.

For the european housings, the glass shroud is gone. There is only the white chrome reflector, so in the stock euro housings you need to use amber bulbs.

I didn't want that, so I pulled the chrome reflectors out and had them chromed amber so that I could use Narva RangePower H3s to get nice, bright light output but still yellow.

Yeah, pictures are in the "Album" on my profile. Not arranged in any particular order I don't think.

If you get the 94/95 lights they have curved lenses to fit behind the curved shroud of the 94/95 hood. If you use 94/95 lenses on a 86-93 hood there will be a gap.

Most of the reason why people go 94/95 hood is for aesthetics or because they want to use 94/95 lights, it doesn't interfere with anything else on the car.

Myself, I've grown fond of 86-93 hood and eyebrows. Its a good middleground. However, we can't get this style grille on the 86-93 hoods
