C124 WIDEBODY PAINT AT LAST !

12hrs? What about from New York, how long of a drive is it? I will be there at some point visiting one of my college buds this summer.
I should hopefullly have my G500 by then!
G500....you'll love it...I'm on my second G55, this time an 05 Kompressor...
As old of a style on the body, they still reek of exclusivity

Happy with the heat extractor hood as it took a great deal of care not to warp the thin sheet metal of the hood !!!
What was discovered that using the water based system gives a much better depth of color.
The water based system flows and levels smoothly where the solvent based has an inherent orange peel as it drives.
The smoother the color coat the better the depth and reflection as the orange peel gives more refraction under the clear coat.

"They sure don't paint 'em like they used to."
Then of course you will happily send it to me for nothing !

Interested in the hood modification - tell me more what/how/when/why ?
Lowering underhood temperatures means a more effective turbo. Less heat in the radiator less heat soak in everything in the engine compartment.
Properly done hood vents/ heat extractors on race cars even create downforce (albeit very very slight.)
If you saw it in Toronto then someone has taken it for the world's biggest joyride at huge expense !

I am in Melbourne Australia !

I'm more concerned about the painter dying before me
As posted the louvers are to extract the turbo heat from the engine bay, more important after engine shutdown as that is when the heat soak takes place
Finding and sorting all the pats to ease reassembly.
New seals are on order for most of the trim.
Comparison to the C124 Hammer Widebody in the AMG Museum, shows how close the contours of the Porsche 911 rear sheetmetal are to the original AMG kit.
