95 E320 Cab H&R sport springs and bilstien shocks

So i have read 100 different posts and i am only abit confused. I may be making this hard but this is what I am trying to do and I cant be the only one LOL

Goal:
Put a 16-17 inch MBZ original wheel with a normal tire(not low profile) for the a good ride. the car has been lowered about 1.5 inches using HR sport springs and Bilstien sport shocks the front and Bilstiens in the back.

It looks like I have plenty of room but I would rather not roll fenders. the look I am going for is more factory than not with a more sporty wheel.

Frankly from all the posts I have read it feels like I have have several choices but It get tough to figure out when the car has been lowered and trying to filter through what everyone is saying. Also i dont trust any of the local wheel shops to know what they are doing with this car...all they want is o sell me new wheels and tires and get me out the door

I know there have been lots of posts on this and I have had several... I have provided some pictures of the current spacing and my old wore out wheels and tires LOL I did read Zeda's post and i do like the wheels, but they are hard to find and to big for what I am trying to do ... and I also read the definitive wheel fitment guide for w124 pdf but that was confusing as I was not sure how it related to a car that was lowered, here is the list for this car(w124) I am wondering how I decide based on the car being lowered... I am thinking at this point only the bold 16s at this point ... and one more ting.. then the spacers come into play that allow yet again another options, I may not need a direct fit just a wheel/tire that matches the spec where at spacer can be used...

124 and 210 wheel compability discoverey

I got some advice from a local MBZ shop owner that works on a older MBZ'S.

he suggested the a 2000-2001 E55 17 inch wheel... while researching and looking at the 1995 wheels I noticed that they also supported the 210 body. these could be a direct match.. saw this on http://www.originalwheels.com/merced...ss1995rims.php... made me start thinking wheels and tires in these years are compatible. Next stop will be the Dealer to ask a question on this...

As with all standard W124's, to avoid rubbing issues stick to a (maximum) of 17x7.5" with a +30-37mm offset. You can go a tad wider in the rear (17x8"). This of course assumes you want to correct your camber/toe for maximum ride quality and tire wear.

Much false information comes from people who run extremely wide wheels with stretched tires and run excessive (dangerous) negative camber. These types propagate the myth of "I run these and they don't rub", which may be true but the damage to their tires and suspension is not factored in.

thanks for the post and your right these is allot to sift through, but allot of good data. with all the info project todate LOL here is what I am looking at... these are for the front of the AMG but I am planning to use them on all 4 sides:
  • Size: 17" x 7.5", 5 Lug, 112mm Bolt Pattern with a 35 offset
  • Description: Used Front 5 Spoke Original Alloy Wheels
  • these wheels are off a C Class MBZ
I have lowered the car by about an inch and half. what risk to think I am at to need roll the fenders??

I do want to keep the tires inside the well and I dont want to run super low profile tires

Do keep in mind that if you go "too new" with your OE wheel selection, you are going to need new lugs as the newer wheels have 14mm lugs. You can get 14mm lug seats on a 12mm shaft though. Just not through Mercedes, they are aftermarket. Pretty much all 2003+ wheels are like this (there might be a few exceptions)

3hrtour Final results of the 1995 E320 cab Suspension project

First I would like to say thank you to all the folks that put up with my learning curve. , 2nd the information I received from this board was great. I was able to see all the different ways to get this project done from many points of view.

I still don't have a picture yet but will soon...

the project was to update a 1995 e320 cab that needed suspension, wheels, tires, and electronices. the goal on the look was to really keep it looking as stock as possible but give it sportier look and feel than the original.

I did the following:
  • added H&R sport springs front and back, this dropped the car about 1.5 inches
  • added Bilstien sport shocks tot he from and bilstien on the back
  • Replaced the 15 inch original wheel with a 16 inch wheel that looks the same(1996 flavor) 16 inch 7.5
  • Replaced the tires with 215/r55/16 - - slight larger and wider
  • Replaced the old becker with a new kenwood that give me all the latest tech except Nav, including Sat, Bluetooth, mp3, internet radio, CD and so forth
from the engine perspective I have already done the wiring harness, head gasket, water pump and a couple other things.

the total cost of the project including parts and labor for installation was not the cheapest but since i can't do the work myself, I need others. total cost was around 3700.00 for all parts and labor
vendors I used were Pelican parts, for the suspension, CCID for the wheels(Ebay), crutchfield for the stereo unit and sat hookup.

thanks all for the help I can honestly say I could not of done it without the folks on the board.
