w124 e220 wont start...kindly help
Hi , My w124 e220 sedan facelift ,after filling petrol at gas station ( when the gauge was almost at empty ,but reserve had not come on) , i restarted the car ,the car switched on for few seconds and switched off automatically. this had never happened before . So i called up my mechanic on my phone & i was telling him about the issue. After a minute or so after few attempts , car started again and i drove it for a few kms and after i went over a speed bump , it stopped again. It refused to restart. So i called up my mechanic & he came down , checked the fuel pump, and he conncected a wire directly to the battery and then the car started. So he then plugged out and connected it to one of the fuses in the box and we drove down to the repair shop. no warning lights had come up . so we found that there was this green relay behind this battery terminal with a melted fuse & corroded electrodes. so after replacing the fuse the car came back alive. So after testing it for a day , they had put back all the panels removed and on the way it has been noted that the horn & the turn signals are not working. Now they have parked the car in the apartment and have left. And it is to be checked on monday morning. So if any body could throw light on what could have gone wrong it would be very helpful.

Out Of Control!!
That relay is used to actuate many things on many 124 cars, however my guess and without a VIN is that it actuates the intake manifold heater----bla bla

MBWorld Fanatic!
That is the fuel pump relay only. The fuse melted due to a poor contact at The fuse itself. Check the pump draw to be sure. 8 amps max!
Check the the fuses where he tapped power from, on a 124 don't look at the fuses check them for power on both sides with A GOOD 25w test lamp

Fuel relays dont have a fuse on the side like picture...Hot wire a car is just asking for problems .The relay in qyestion is a multi item relay it cover a few items .Look like a replacment is in wanted .
