1993 400e Engine Type
Have water in the oil on my 1993 400e. I'm assuming it is a head gasket, or do these cars have another common failure point that might cause that? If it is a head gasket, the parts store has 2 different engines on file 010591 and 010592. I've looked high and low in the engine bay to figure it out, where is the number located? I just recently bought this car and it doesn't run so I'm slowly piecing it together because otherwise it's in great shape.
Thanks in advance and I look forward to learning on this forum!

EPC footnotes
There are 2 foot notes in EPC for the part numbers, 029, 030, Each footnote comes up with a different number similar to the ones you show.
and there are actually 2 different part numbers per side
See my screen shot of EPC footnote 029
EPC can be confusing when there are several choices to make for the same PN type.
I would go to a Mercedes dealer with the VIN, and let them tell you which ones are the latest and correct P/N's.
I have read in forums to avoid removing 119 V8 heads at all possible costs, it is said to be a huge job, and not for a beginner DIYer.
I would make damn sure the problem is the head gaskets before tackling this project..
personally I would look for a dependable Indy mechanic who is experienced with 119 motors...good luck
N update numbers.

Thanks for the engine code advice, everything has to be so difficult! So I held off on the head replacement, though it does look easier than I imagined. Running it a bit with some new plugs, and some injector cleaner to see if the cloudy oil returns. I will say now that it any runs, anything above 15 mph is super impressive!
