Which trunklid would you choose?
I am wondering which style trunklid would look best on my silver 1989 300ce. Here are the different versions I found so far to choose from:
1st. (1988-1989) style
2nd. (1990-1993) North American style
3rd. (1990-1993) Euro style
4th. (1994-1995) North American style
5th. (1994-1995) Euro style
6th. Cabrio style with light integrated
7th. Aftermarket #1. Trunk lid with integrated spoiler

MBWorld Fanatic!
I think the 93+ looks the best. Also, the 94+ W124 coupes did not get the smoother trunk with a piece of chrome in the back like the sedans.
The cabrio's trunk would be cool too, but does it fit? or are you going to custom make it?

You cant fit a Saloon trunk onto a CE... they are a different shape. (look at the side edges of the trunk, the CE is flat whilst the Saloon is curved)
Apart from the Cabriolet with the built in light, all the other trunks are the same as the CE never got a facelift trunk, only different filler panels around the number plate surround.
The filler panels are about $150 plus clips and stuff and will fit on both Saloons and Coupe's. I have done this mod myself and have pictures and part numbers somewhere if you want me to dig them out.
Personally, I went for the Euro look (3rd Pic down) and now I'm just after an AMG Ducktail to finish it off with.

Would you please dig out the pictures and part numbers for the filler panel mod that you did. No super rush, just when you have some spare time. Thank you so much for offering

The 3rd one was what I had my heart set on from the beginning and the AMG Ducktail is my absolute favourite.
BTW what color is your car?
Thank You In Advance

OK, Here you go...
I ordered the rear filler panel, and associated fixings, had it sprayed and bolted it in place. This is supposed to be a part for the 1994 facelift Coupe models but the part will fit directly on saloon models also.
It's a subtle change but it does tidy the back end a bit I think.

New surround

There are three parts to the Mod.
The filler panel itself isn't cheap at £83 +Vat A124 758 0346
Next there is a replacement metal strip which replaces the one at the bottom of the bootlid. This part # I cant seem to find at the moment but if you look up tha above part number on the fische, it will be obvious which one it is. Cost is £15 (I'll try and dig the number out anyway)
The last bit is some clips (6 off) Part # A000994 40 60 Price = peanuts.
The spraying cost me £40 so all in, it was about £150 Inc.
*if your after an AMG Ducktail to finish, remember that the Saloon spoiler will not fit on a CE due to the different bootlid shape
(did this meself)
(All prices are in GBP)

Look like E500 Euro lights to me. Centre lights are mainbeam and not fog lamps.
Hammer... dont think it is although its trying to be - think the Hammers were earlier like 1985 or so . Looks much better with the original Hammer wheels on rather than the five spokes dont you think?
