One motor is used for both sliding an tilting. When the motor operates in the "closing" direction after the roof has closed, it then tilts the roof. Has the roof been operating poorly or funny lately?

Hmm .. i'm not sure but isn't the sunroof motor in the trunk?

My sunroof died before. One day it just wouldn't slide open or pop up. I remember it cost me a LOT of $ to get it fixed from the authorized Mercedes dealer, plus they didn't do a good job. The roof slides so slow and after i close it, it makes sounds. So annoying

Yes, the motor is in the trunk.

If the roof will not tilt, there might be one of two problems: the translation bridge which carries the roof might be stuck when attempting to tilt the roof. Or the limit settings in the drive unit are out of order and need to be adjusted. The latter is an easy fix, but tedious.

Does it make a clicking noise (from the trunk) when you press the button to tilt it?

The sunroof makes no noise when attemptin to tilt.

It seems as though the button doesn't catch. It is moving, but there is no resitance when I push it, It feels as if it were off a track, but it doesn't work like that.

Before it broke, the button would Click when I would tilt it up.
Now, teh button moves up but there is no click and it moves without any resistance?
I don't know how to explain it really.
