1986 300e For Sale - Miami
Hi,
This is going to sound a little weird but I'm looking to sell my '86 300e and I'm not sure how much I can reasonably ask for it. I inherited it from an Aunt who died in 2001, she bought it new, put around 40K on it, and I've put around 45 on it, maybe less. The odometer broke around 5 or 6 years ago and I put maybe 5K on it since then. I haven't driven it at all for the last three years, just recently had the mechanic get it running again--drain the gas tank, fix the brakes, etc. I put around $1,100 into it (this time). I don't get to drive this car very often, it's in Miami and I live in New York and as such it's very unreliable, which was why I took it off road to begin with until I decided what I want to do with it. Decided to sell it. I'd love to see it go to a good home but don't want to sell it to someone who doesn't like to tinker with cars. I believe it CAN be a very reliable car if it's driven regularly but I wouldn't feel good about selling it to a little old lady. It's a beautiful car, "Blue Diamond" color, runs like new, I have all the paperwork. (Around 10 years ago I replaced the windshield wiper--it still had the original!) I took very good care of it and replaced an awful lot of stuff through the years--water pump, alternator, (recently), throttle cable, cables and hoses, starter, etc, The air conditioning doesn't work although I've been told that only requires inserting a fuse.
Thoughts???
Thanks,
Lance

Cargurus ranges from $1,600 to $7,900 for a 1986 300E. Yours is, according to your post, unreliable and has a broken odometer. If you can get $1,000 for it, you will be doing well.
