1989 300TE Gas Mileage Woes....

I just bought this car about 2 months ago. So I decided not too long ago to fill it up with premium (I always use premium) to see what kind of mileage I could get around town on a full tank. I think there is something seriously wrong as on a full tank ($65 CDN to fill @ 1.06/L) I got 200 miles!!!!!! What the hell? The car was purchased in the US and live in Canada so converted it comes out to 320 km to a full tank? Something has got to be wrong because I know it can do better than that with the M103 6 cylinder engine in it! Anyone have any clues on what to do? Is there possible valves clogged (PCV, ICV, etc) or? Any help would be greatly appreciated and if anyone has the same engine, what does yours get in town to a full tank? Cheers!

08 Lexus GS350 AWD. 08 Lexus RX350 AWD - wife's. 94 MBZ E320 - still have it.
Normally I would expect about 280-300 miles in town on a full tank of gas. If you use A/C a lot, subtract about 10%. However, sounds like you have a station wagon, right? The gear ratio could be slightly different there, so the car would accelerate faster, and that would affect the gas mileage.

I had my mechanic to tweak my 124's (2.0 L engine) carb to lean and managed to squeezed 460 km out of 60 Litres.

For one thing you MUST use premium fuel unless you modify the R16 resistor, which is not advisable. Lower octane fuels allow risk of knocking!

Mmmmm...so what do you think? 180 is a little low so any clues on what I should do to see about upping my abnormally low fuel economy?

You either have a leak, a bad fuel pressure regulator or a bad fuel distributor.
