Coupe, wagon or V8 sedan wanted

Hi all,

New member here and looking to replace my recently t-boned W140. I'd appreciated any leads on the following: 1991+ 300CE/E320 coupe, 300TE/E320 wagon or 400E/E420 sedan. Looking for something in reasonably decent condition with my upper price cutoff being $6K.

Got a '91 300CE white w/black leather, 106K miles. How much you looking to invest?

Hi mbzbrd,

like I said, $6K is my cutoff which is certain to seem absurd to somebody with an especially nice car but I'm expecting the overall package to fit my budget. In fact I'm not entirely put off by the idea of ending up with something of a fixer within my price range. Your coupe, being a good color combo and with only 106K on the clock sounds like it may be beyond my budget, but what were you thinking of getting?

To give you an idea, I recently looked at a blk on gray coupe that recently came out of long term storage. It had a list of issues: body, paint and interior were acceptable but it had a stupid aftermarket grille, giant, later vintage wheels, non-working a/c and a mess of deferred maintenance and random, piddly broken stuff. Guy was asking just over $5K and turned down a previous offer of $3K; at anything over $4K this particular car just didn't feel right for the money.

There are a couple issues: 1) The convenience open/close on the windows is not currently operating. When you lock the driver's door with the key, the driver's side window opens. Just started. 2) Being 30 years old with original paint the clear coat is beginning to separate from the color coat in a couple areas. 3) I have disconnected the factory alarm because the last time I opened the trunk with the key, the alarm went off. Not supposed to do that. 4) OEM Radio does not switch off when push "Off" button. Turns on/off fine with key.

On the plus side: 1) Head gasket has been replaced; 2) New alternator; 3) New blower motor for heater/cooler; 4) Mercedes winter rubber mats over carpet/front/rear; 5) New cap and rotor; 6) Relatively recent plugs/wires; 7) Low mileage on tires w/original factory wheels; 8) Extra set of factory wheels; 9) New Rainbow dash speakers; 10) Miscellaneous parts, mostly interior replacements in box.

If I think of anything else, I'll post. I currently have no fell for an appropriate asking price, but $6K is probably less than I would take.

Thanks for the follow-up mbzbrd. Your car so definitely your call on what you want for it. Right now, $6K is my limit and that's that; I may reget this years later but IF I end finding what I'm after within budget I'll feel pretty good about it.

That's not a bad looking car for the money but I'm gonna try to stick to my criteria if I can. Years ago, I started asking around about the coupes and '91 came back as the model year cutoff for chassis features that would best fit my plans.

I'm ready to part with my '91 300CE. It's yours for $6K if you want it. Just replaced the convenience control module.

1990 300CE

Hi. I know you stated a 1991+ but if you are interested in a 1990 300CE I'm in the Phoenix area and will part with mine for $2000 cash. It's showing signs pointing toward a head gasket replacement but it's a beautiful car in very good condition.
