cold start w124

can somebody locate me coolant temperature sensor on the M102 engine. I want to check a problem in my car that every morning it takes cranking of 5 seconds to start and after that it is perfect. May be coolant temperature sensor is a reason

There are 3 temp sensors on the cylinder head: KE, climate control, and the gauge. The climate control sensor is a 2-pole connection with blue tape on the wire. The KE temp sensor is one of the 1-pole sensors.

It is possible the cold start valve is out of order. The valve is a blue device on the intake manifold. Remove it and crank the engine. Hold the valve over a cup and see if any fuel comes out.

out of 3 sensors which is the coolant temprature sensor that controls the cold start valve.

can you explian a little bit the procedure to check cold start valve

The sensor for the KE (fuel injection) is used for actuation of the cold start valve. I will look up the jobs tonight when I get home.

The job for testing the function of the cold start valve is very complicated and requires some special tools. I can still send it if you want. For now here are the pin assignments for the coolant temp. sensor.

i read on forums that to check this sensor, check the resistance between two connectors at different temperatures, i have the EHA table with me but whuch are the two connectors out of these four to check the resistance (Ohms)

You want to measure the pins for KE. They are shown in the pic.
