Wiring Diagram for w124 102.982

1986 230 w124 m102.982
Hi all, I'm new to the forum. I have a 1986 230e w14 with m102.982 engin
Can anyone help me with a wiring diagram? I find plenty info on 190E 201 engins, but not much on mine.
I'm a semi capable backyard mechanic trying to faullt find why my car cranks, but there is no spark from the coil.
I have read a few threads on this and other forums mentioning it may be a faulty crank angle 9position) sensor. I guess I want to know if my engin (m102.982) have the sensor under the oil filter housing?
any feedback will be appriciated

I believe it would be around the starter/oil filter area. Just follow the wire from the EZL (ignition control unit) to it and you will find it.
But you do not need to inspect it at the position sensor. Just unplug it at the EZL and measure its resistance, this would include the wiring which could be at fault. There is a spec for it like 900 ohms to 1100 ohms.
It varies a bit between hot and cold. So you want to measure it both ways, unfortunately your car does not start but still should be within spec when cold.

Also make sure the connection/jumper at the X11 diagnostic port next to the EZL is nice and secure. The timing signal generated by the EZL goes from the EZL to this jumper and then to the Coil. It is just bolted on there and could be loose or corroded after 38 years.

I have one more question for you. attached is a picture of my EZL (all was properly fitted prior to pic being taken) all pictures I see on the net have 4 plugs, with a dedicated plug for the crank sensor. I only have 2 plugs, small one from distributor, and big plug has 4 pins. Is the crank sensor one of those 4?
Thanks
Dirk

You have a very old EZL. Pre '90 is 3 plugs, post '89 is 4 plugs, you have 2 plugs. BTW, you can plug in a post '89 into a '89 and earlier and it is backwards compatible.
Just an FYI. Because the 4th was added for more functionality for post '90 only. This is all for 6 cylinder engines. Not sure about 4 cylinder.

I have no idea about your wiring working with the 3 or 4 prong ones. Could be.

That being said, in yours the green one should be the CPS wire and it is headed to it. The other is the output of the EZL.

What the heck are those chewed our red wires? That can't be good.
Also you do not seem to have the same TD signal jumper as the rest of us but the X11 is right next to the EZL. Make sure there is nothing funky going on with that besides measuring the CPS resistance.

Also it appears your EZL is not bolted to the chassis, it needs that for heat sinking the EZL, otherwise it will overheat pretty quickly. You will need electronics hear paste (the white stuff) between it and the chassis for good heat conduction.
