Rebate/refund due to defect? New car nolonger new.
When one buys a new product, you expect it to be free of defects. As our car is new and now we have this replaced steering rack, this car is no longer 'new' (akin to gluing a vase back together), is there an avenue with the manufacturer for getting a rebate/refund due to this experience of having to have a major component replaced? Does the manufacturer have any kind of program to address this kind of issue? Where do we go to pursue this avenue?

It definitely will not be easy to get MB to give you a new car without a fight..
MB switched me out into a brand new E class. When it was all done I was VERY satisfied. The Regional Rep was helpful, but you have to first have your complain documented by the folks in Montvale. They will get the regional rep involved. Your concern is especially taken seriously if your safety is compromised.
