Question Size of Correct Flat Hood Emblem?

This seems like a silly question. Fact is, I don't have my car with me at work right now but hope to pick up a flat hood emblem after work. Does anyone know the size/diameter of the emblem needed for a W210? I know there are several sizes available - I'd like the my flat one to sit inside the recess/dimple where the original star one sits - any ideas or anyone care to volunteer to measure the diameter of the dimple for me......within the next few hours?..

Many thanks in advance.

Dave, I think the standard hood star has a 44mm base... but that is the widest point. The farther you want it to sit into the hood, the smaller diameter it needs to be.

Thanks Dean, that coverts to (roughly) the 1.75" that the W208 guys have been talking about - same star I guess. the other size would be the approx. 2.25" for the SLK, SL etc...thanks for the clarification....now to get me a rare emblem I saw a while ago...........

WTF? Start your own thread man! lol...As said, tell him to get W211 E55 wheels, no bolt problems and he'll have perfect fit with even better looking wheels ... but knowing what he's like, only chromed ones will do for him.....

OK, I took the plunge and got IT....to all who hate "phoney" badging - this badge never came on any AMG's except those in the 70's and 80's(???) and I simply liked the logo design, which happens to go with my ride's general theme -absolutely nothing to do with me wanting to pretend to be an AMG owner, so please don't flame me . It is solid brass and fits perfectly in the recess of the hood.

To Do Or Not To Do?????

OK, I know this topic has already been beaten to death but since I was stupid enough to get it already, what does everyone really think - star or star-less? Please, no more jokes about aiming grannies and helpless kids crossing the road.......

Go Starless,

Do you have an upclose photo of it with the new badge?
Also, where did you find the badge? I think it looks great.

, couldn't you tell its a photoshop? I just bought it and its night time now but another member tells me it sits very nicely in the recess. Will do the install as soon as I get up in the morning.

Thanks for the opinions, I'll try it on for real and see. If I don't like it, the emblem is up for grabs.......

That's exactly what I thought originally.....but then, it felt really strange without it..kinda like a pet that's suddenly gone. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get over it eventually...

Steve, you might be right but I think these things are also in very limited supply (like my wheels )...

Anyone know where can I get a 1.75'' hood emblem.
I have a 2.25''... I don't like the way it sits on the hood.
