Talking Philips Diamond Vision 5000K H1

I had contact the http://suvlights.com/ but he did not have Philips Diamond Vision 5000K H1. They got Philips Crystall Vision 4300K H1, but not Diamond.

They also told me that Diamond is too blue, but it is not true. Diamond is white like my Xenon and match great. There is very very little tint of blue, that hard to notice.

If you have clear lense fog light then you might get little more blue tint.

The Diamonds are slightly blue but seems to give a cleaner lite without noticeable loss of light output than the Crystals...and not enuf to notice against the 4300k+ HIDs that come standard on most OEM HIDs. The Crystals are 4000K if I remember correctly....they are pure white by comparison. I've installed them on a W209 CLK's clear/projectors and at a glance they look like HIDs - very clean and sharp output....Personally, I like a bit of hue in the lite - my 6400K's way blue

Here's my ride with the OEM Xenons, Polarg B1 Hybrid Hyper White City Light 8W for the parking lights, and Philips Diamond Vision H1 foglights. The first set of two Polarg bulbs had one yellowish and one white bulb, so I ordered a second set, which had the same problem! Anyway, I ended up with two good bulbs. Of course, having snapped off one of the prongs of each bad bulb, I was unable to return them.

Mike,

Please see my post on the W210 projector style/retrofit project thread. I need your help to connect the LEDs for the city lights.

Thanks.

Led Lights/city Lights

If you want to do the mod read this. Get rid of the yellow lights.

Anyone tried the Osram bulbs?

I ordered a "set" of "Hilite" Xenon-style bulbs for my 1999 E 300 TD.
http://www.xenonlightshid.com/

However, a "set" conists of hi and lo beams + foglights. So now I have a weird effect of Xenon-style outer lamps and yellow inner "city lights."

I am a little uncomfortable going with the higher wattage of the Polargs that seem to have consensus approval on this site. Several people, on this thread and on another MB site, have expressed disappointment with the Philips H6W.

Does anyone know anything about the Osram Super Cool bulbs? They are available through:

http://www.redgriffin.co.uk/products.asp?cat=79

Any comments welcome...

check out my post, above.

Dude, check out my post, above. You can get a set of Xenon-style bulbs for the outer lo and hi-beams, plus fog lights, for $50 (incl. shipping and Calif tax) from: http://www.xenonlightshid.com/

Shipping is just about instantaneous. If you order today (based on the L.A. residence), you should have them by Friday.

The problem is with the inner "city lights." These are the lights that run as parking lights and are on all the time. There are H6W, which are difficult to get in Xenon-style. Philips and Osram have H6Ws, which can be purchased through various sites in the U.K. As noted, folks who have purchased the Philips bulbs have been dissatisfied with teh output, which still looks a bit yellowish.

The Polargs are 8 watts, as opposed to the 6 watt H6Ws. Obviously, the electrical system was designed for 6 watt, so buying 8 watt bulbs is not, so to say, Good Housekeeping approved. You have to file off one of teh prongs to make them fit. Some peopole have apparently purchased them and reported that the difference is not significant enough to trip any warning lamp. The company with the Polargs is located in Reseda, which may be close enough for you to stop by and chat with the proprietor. I just ordered a set myself and I'll give it a shot.

Polarg Results

I got the Polargs and installed them in my 99 E300. Even though higher wattage, they are not as bright as the OEM bulbs. (Not a big deal, since they are not used to provide light for the driver to see with.) They are not quite as yellow as the OEMs, but they are definitely yellowish. A substantial improvement, but not ideal. It took me a good hour to remove the prongs, and file them down and install. (Note that there is not a lot of space to remove light cover on passenger-side and wiggle on old fixture and install new; this can take some time.)

No error message re higher wattage.

I use Diamond 5000K H7 for my C55 W203 fog , a perfect match to the stock HID ( though now I have changed to Piaa 6200K D2S HID bulbs).
No blue tint.

Guys, any further updates on the Polargs? I've just had one of the yellow OEM bulbs burn out and was going to order these, but wondering if anyone found the perfect city light replacement yet?

Look at my sig pic, white LED city lights...looks a bit blue in the pic but pure white in person.

To be fair, since I was one of the the people recommending the Polargs originally, they were one of the better solutons at the time before LEDs became popular and they tend to be whiter in facelifted W210's due to the differences in design of the light housings - the pre-facelift ones have a lot of silver-grey material behind the lense that gets picked up by the light. The Polargs are perfectly white behind W203 and other newer lights.

Cheers, not keen on drilling holes in the back of the unit and hacing hot resistor packs in the engine bay.

Looks like it will be some filaments for me.
