AMG split spoke wheel question for Stemag or anyone
Will the 17 x 8.5 AMG split spoke wheel ( like what's used on the rear of a C32) work on all four wheels of a 1999 W210?
i know someone who's selling some and i thought i'd ask around before trying too hard to buy them.
I think Stemag has them on his but i odn't know the size. They are direct fit, right? no spacers needed?

Stemags has a staggered setup from a C55 (slightly different design and I think size and offset to the C32 version).
All four rear wheels should fit but the fronts will stick out more than the rears. Spacers in the rears will fix this but if you can live with it, it wouldn't be a major issue, for normal driving within the legal limits at least.

JYO, Stemags sent me your PM's asking for help so here's more detail.
I've check no probemo.....provided those wheels are really off a C32. Here's why:
Bolt size and pattern in C's CLK's and E's are the same.
The standard wheels off a C32 should be 7.5x17 ET37 front /8.5x17 ET34rear , so if it is all rears, you will be getting 8.5"x17's at ET34. 8.5" wide wheels with ET35 is a common after market wheel size for the W210, the 1mm difference in ET in the AMG's is neglegible. But as said, make sure u are really getting those sizes before you buy (u will see it embossed on the inside of the spokes).
As to whether the front sticks out more, I certainly notice it but most people don't. Its really up to you if you want to put some 5mm spacers in the rears to give you a nicer, staggered effect.
As said Stemags has a slightly different wheel design, from memory I think Ben'z has the same ones. Check out Stemags' thread on his decision on his wheels, Ben'z posted there (sorry too busy to find the link).

Yeah,,,Whitey knows what u need.I happened to be at the Dealer yesterday(needed a fan motor resistor for the A/C),,,and a CLK55 with the same wheels as mine drove in.I have also seen them on a C55,but I havent seen them on a C32.
Either way, they should last a long time, and they will look nice.

thanks guys
it turns out the set is staggered. what is a good price for these you think?
i laready have a set of michelin pilots in 235/45/17. will this tire size only fit the front wheels (7.5x17)
what is the difference in these vs. the c55 design?
whitey, are you still in HK?

i was interested in same size all around for purpose of being able to rotate tires.

For the differences between the three types of "split spokes" AMG Style IV's available, check my post here:

As for staggered vs non-staggered, I'll let Stemags share with you his decision....he too was thinking the same as you re. rotation before he got his staggered setup It's personal preference in the end.

Hey Ben, does it look obvious? i.e. the fronts would be buldging quite a bit compared to the rears, no?

The front is 7.5" only, just right.

Hmmmmm, I guess it also depends on the tire. Do you have side shots of both front and rear tires? I'm very interested to see how they compare. I've not done 235's on 7.5" but I would guess something like Pirelli P-zero Rosso's with their much rounder shoulder would do the job nicely in such a case.

Sorry, I misunderstood your question.
Yes, you are right. :p
It looks a little bit bulging out.
I will show you some pictures tomorrow.

They are a very sturdy wheel...that's why I'd suggested it for the NY roads anyway. I'm just surprized even the 17's are so heavy.....in contrast, my 19's are 16-17lbs!

I took pictures for both front and rear tires yesterday.
Maybe, it is my poor skill...
From the pictures, I can't tell the difference...
