My Old W210 just got a new COMAND! thanks Steve
Steve just put a euro comand into my 1997 E420 (manufactured 11/1996).
My wife got into the car and said "it looks like it should have always been there" I told her that is why we waited 3-month for Steve to come and do it.
Thanks Again Steve - and maybe we can get to the blinking mirrors on your next visit.
David

prices
not positive but I think it was
$1,750 for the comand
$450 for the changer
both installed - I needed the changer but on a newer car you might be able to use the existing one.

Nothing MB related (sorry)
Don't forget, David, that your comand was installed with the 'August special' price. And that the wood panel is included for the W210 comand upgrade.
It's good to know that your wife likes the comand as well. Enjoy being navigated!
greetingz,
BigSis

Wow, that looks great in there! I've been looking for a navigation unit for my 98 E430, but have heard some poor reviews of the MB Command unit. Let us know how you like it.

it works pretty good but is not state of the art like the pioneer or alpine - it works fine for my purpose and I run xm through the aux input

The benefits of having a MB Nav is that all the other functions, phone,cd,tv,etc are working together the way they should,,,no conflicts. It may be outdated or lacking in some areas,,,but its seemless operation makes it worthwhile.

I notice no (or very little) difference between the panels. It is mostly from the flash angle. Even if there is a slight difference - who cares - this is a great update to my old 97 car.
I backed out of the $2K IC and MF wheel upgrade at the last moment.

I love my comand - for some reason I cannot get AM stations any longer. I've meant to ask Steve for over a year if that is "normal function" for the European Comand. Good luck, you will never get lost again!

Neicey: US AM stations have different frequencies (10kHz) compared to Europe (9kHz). You can manually enter the AM stations, and comand will search for the nearest available. Most AM stations will tune in reasonably.

Congratulations on the new Comand. I had Steve install the Euro Comand in my 1999 E430 over a year ago and it has been wonderful. (It goes with the blinking mirrors, integrated phone kit, E55 AMG multi-function leather steering wheel and AMG instrument cluster that Steve also installed!!)
a fool and his money, etc..........
Enjoy! ciao, Greg

Hey, Big Sis!! Thanks for the tip - I've been so happy finally getting places without getting lost - and since I am primarily a CD kinda girl, with a little FM radio play thrown in - AM use just isn't that important to me. I will try manually programming it later this week.
Ps. I see you're still keeping Steve straight!
